Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital conducted a Clinical Pathological Conference (CPC) on Proximal Tibial Fractures in Adults, led by 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛: 𝘿𝙧. 𝙔𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙧 𝙄𝙦𝙗𝙖𝙡 with expert contributions from 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛. 𝘿𝙧. 𝙄𝙦𝙗𝙖𝙡, 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛. 𝘿𝙧. 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙯𝙤𝙤𝙧, and concluding remarks by 𝘿𝙧. 𝙐𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙍𝘾𝙎 (𝙄𝙧𝙚), 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙛 𝙀𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚.
The session highlighted complex cases, including a Schatzker Type V fracture, emphasizing that while PTFs account for only ≈1.2% of all fractures, they carry a high risk of long-term disability—making standardized management essential.
𝕂𝕖𝕪 𝕋𝕒𝕜𝕖𝕒𝕨𝕒𝕪𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕘 𝔻𝕠𝕔𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕤:
1. Initial Assessment: Follow ATLS principles, check neurovascular status, and remain alert for compartment syndrome.
2. Imaging: CT scan is essential for accurate classification, surgical planning, and evaluating joint involvement.
3. Treatment Goals: Focus on anatomic reduction, mechanical axis restoration, and stable fixation—allowing early mobilization to preserve joint function.

𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐂𝐏𝐂) focusing on the "𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒐𝒂𝒅𝒋𝒖𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝒆𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒂 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒓𝒚". The session featured a case presentation by Dr. Huma Hanees and a comprehensive presentation on the topic by Dr. Asma Hameed.
This CPC aimed to address critical issues by highlighting:
• The rationale and goals of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (NACT).
• Key trials supporting NACT, such as the EORTC and CHORUS trials.
• The advantages and limitations of this treatment approach.
• The effectiveness of NACT in achieving high rates of tumor response and optimal cytoreduction.
The event was supervised by Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ali, VP Academic, while Associate Professor of Paediatrics Dr. Usman Ali served as the Moderator. The event was also attended by the Chief Executive of SMCTH/Swat Medical College Dr. M Usman and Hospital Director Associate Prof. of Orthopedics Dr. Yasir Iqbal.

A meeting was held on August 20, 2025 at Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital under the chair of 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌 𝐔𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 Swat Medical College Complex/Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital, to see how best the institution i.e Swat Medical College and Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital was able to offer help to the affectees of recent devastating floods hitting certain areas of District Swat and surrounding districts. Those present were Senior and junior faculty, young doctors and all supporting staff with administration.
The meeting started with the name of ALLAH and prayers were offered to the deceased and affected families. The physical damage to the proprieties and emotional infliction were shared. It was discussed that although the primary domain of the institution was health but considering the wide nature of affliction, help in the form of cleaning flood silt and debris etc will also be addressed in association and consultation with other organization and government authorities.
Free medical camps will arranged in swat and Buner districts where junior and senior doctors and student along with faculty/specialist from Swat Medical College/Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital will also participate. More importantly a comprehensive healthcare will be offered in Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital which will include an out patient service, a referral system to specialist of the hospital, out patient specialist consultation, free/subsidized investigations and a free in patient treatment and surgery if required. This service will be extended for weeks to months depending on the availability of funds collected. The main source of the fund for this charity work is donation from Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital , Swat Medical College, a one day salary of all consultants, young doctors and supporting staff and from other sources.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟.
Our first batch of medical graduates (batch 18-19) have completed their house job training on 15-July 2025 and are registered with PMDC. One of our graduates Dr Mubassir is appointed in Swat Medical College already and I hope many more will come to their parent institution as young doctors in near future and a lot more as specialists in the years to come. Some of you will be around and the rest will settle in their career somewhere else in the country or abroad. Keep connected to your institution. It is always a pride to be the first batch. Swat Medical Complex Teaching Hospital recently held a Clinical Pathological Conference (CPC) focusing on Nephrotic Syndrome in Pediatrics. The session featured a case presentation by Dr. Azmat Ullah, Senior Registrar, and a comprehensive presentation on the topic by Assistant Professor Dr. Izahar Ali.
Nephrotic Syndrome is a prevalent kidney disorder in children.
