The Elcon Berliner Reflex hammer 20.0cm is used to release muscle-stretch-reflexes as for example the Achilles tendon reflex or Patellar reflex, in relation to neurological investigations.

The intensity of the reflex is used to measure either central or peripheral nerve damages, with results in hyperreflexia or an increase of reflexes, but also to measure results like hyperlexia or decreased reflexes.

The intensity of the stimulus in order to generate the reflex is also determining the extent of the reflex readiness.
