Yesterday, on October 17th, METRUM CRYOFLEX had the privilege of organizing for the first time International Pain Management Day — a global event dedicated to advancing knowledge, innovation, and collaboration in the field of pain therapy.
It was a deeply inspiring day filled with expert insights, clinical experience, and meaningful discussions about modern approaches to pain management and the growing role of cryoanalgesia in improving patients’ quality of life.

🌍 International Day Against Pain

For the medical community, this day is more than just symbolic - it’s a reminder that pain is a disease in its own right, and its effective management requires an interdisciplinary approach and access to advanced therapeutic technologies.

According to data from the European Pain Federation (EFIC), 1 in 5 European adults (19%) suffers from moderate to severe chronic pain. That’s over 150M patients across Europe, many of whom still receive inadequate care or rely primarily on pharmacological treatment - often involving opioids.

At Metrum Cryoflex, we have been developing cryoanalgesia technologies for years, enabling effective, minimally invasive pain treatment - offering a real alternative to opioid-based therapies.
Today, this is not just innovation - it’s a necessity.

On this occasion, we are sharing a recording from the Polish national TV program “Pytanie na Śniadanie” (TVP2), where Dr. Ludmiła Hasak, an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, together with her patient, demonstrated our device and the outcomes of cryoanalgesia therapy - for the first time ever on live television.

And today, we have also launched International Pain Management Day - a global online event that has already gathered over 2,300 participants from around the world to discuss the future of pain treatment.

During the CWIG World Congress in Nagano, nine presentations and four posters on cryotherapy for pain relief were presented. This method, based exclusively on EBM, has influenced changes in pain management, which is an extremely important part of surgery. Thanks to cryoanalgesia, the amount of opioids used has decreased and the length of children’s hospital stays has been reduced. NUSS surgeries have become an example of the implementation and application of the ERAS protocol. Discussions focused on optimizing the procedure based on clinical experience from several hundred thousand cryanalgesia procedures. The next congress in 2026 will be held in Belgium.
