International Conference for Students and Young Doctors

International Student Scientific Conference (ISSC) is a three-day immersive scientific experience where students from diverse healthcare disciplines are given the opportunity to present their research and connect with fellow researchers and professionals from across the globe. The conference is held annually in the picturesque city of Gdańsk. About the Conference

We have had the pleasure of hosting international students from across Europe and North America, who enthusiastically share their research, attend educational lectures and workshops, and unwind at our social events. Over the years, ISSC has welcomed world-renowned scientists, including Prof. Walter Sigenthaler (Switzerland), Prof. Vladimir Petrovich Skulachev (Russia), Prof. Ewa Bobber (Germany), Prof. Lucedio Greci (Italy), and Prof. Acquardo (USA), among many others. This year marks the 31st edition of ISSC, themed “Horizons of Healthcare: New Frontiers in Science, Discovery, and Medicine,” and will take place on the 26th- 28th March 2026. Międzynarodowa Konferencja dla Studentów i Młodych Lekarzy

Międzynarodowa Studencka Konferencja Naukowa (ISSC) to trzydniowe, immersyjne wydarzenie naukowe, podczas którego studenci z różnych dziedzin opieki zdrowotnej mają możliwość zaprezentowania swoich badań i nawiązania kontaktów z innymi badaczami i specjalistami z całego świata. Konferencja odbywa się corocznie w malowniczym Gdańsku. O konferencji

Mieliśmy przyjemność gościć studentów zagranicznych z całej Europy i Ameryki Północnej, którzy z entuzjazmem dzielą się swoimi badaniami, uczestniczą w wykładach i warsztatach edukacyjnych oraz odpoczywają na naszych imprezach towarzyskich. Na przestrzeni lat ISSC gościło światowej sławy naukowców, w tym prof. Waltera Sigenthalera (Szwajcaria), prof. Władimira Pietrowicza Skulacheva (Rosja), prof. Ewę Bobber (Niemcy), prof. Lucedio Greci (Włochy) i prof. Martina A. Acquardo (USA) i wielu innych. W tym roku przypada 31. edycja konferencji ISSC, której tematem przewodnim jest „Horyzonty Opieki Zdrowotnej: Nowe Granice Nauki, Odkryć i Medycyny”. The 31st ISSC is delighted to feature Dr. hab. n. med. Piotr Zieliński as one of its lecturers.

He will be delivering a lecture titled:
"Future of neurooncology"

Dr. Piotr Zieliński is a highly accomplished neurosurgeon and neurotraumatologist based in Gdansk, with over 30 years of extensive clinical experience. He specialises in the management of traumatic nerve injuries, brain tumours, and complex spinal disorders. He completed his medical education and doctoral training at the Medical University of Gdansk and additionally holds an MBA from the Gdansk Foundation of Management. He has authored over 180 scientific publications in neurosurgery and neurophysiology. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of Gdansk Clinical Centre (UCK).

Today, Dr. Zieliński will be speaking on the future of neuro-oncology, sharing his clinical insights and perspective on the evolving scope of neurosurgical cancer care.

We are proud to present Prof. dr. hab. med. Rafał Płoski as one of the distinguished lecturers at the 31st ISSC.

He will be delivering a lecture titled:
"Exome sequencing for diagnosis and discovery of novel human diseases"

Professor Rafał Ptoski is a professor of genetics and the head of the department of Medical Genetics at the Medical University of Warsaw. In his laboratory, Prof. Płoski implements next-generation sequencing techniques for diagnostic and research purposes. The main area of interest is the development of personalised medicine based on whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing for diagnostics, the discovery of new human diseases, and the search for their treatment on scientific grounds.

In his lecture, Prof. Płoski will discuss the role of exome sequencing in modern medical genetics and its impact on diagnostic decision-making. He will present selected cases illustrating how exome sequencing has enabled the discovery of previously unknown genetic diseases and, in some instances, led directly to targeted treatment strategies, highlighting the real-world clinical value of genomic medicine.

We are excited to introduce Professor Sadasivan Vidyasagar as one of the lecturers at the 31st ISSC!

He will be delivering a lecture titled:
"The processes involved in translating laboratory work to commercialisation"

Professor Sadasivan Vidyasagar is a Gastroenterologist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Florida (UF)
College of Medicine and specialises in cellular transport physiology applied to clinical challenges in oncology and fluid balance. Along with academics, he is a scientific co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Entrinsic Bioscience, a biotechnology startup developing advanced fluid and electrolyte modulation technologies.
His work at UF has been recognised with significant awards, including UF Innovate's "Invention of the Year".
With over 170 patents, Professor Vidyasagar is an innovator whose expertise spans multiple fields, including electrophysiology, transport physiology, and mathematical modelling.
