The quarterly journal FAMILY MEDICINE & PRIMARY CARE REVIEW (ISSN 1734-3402, eISSN 2449-8580) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal, open to researchers in family medicine, primary care and related fields, academic teachers, general practitioners/family doctors, and other primary health care professionals, as well as physicians-in-training, residents and medical students. The journal is also addressed to those who carry out experimental and epidemiological research in other disciplines. Our mission is to lay the foundations for cooperation and an exchange of ideas, information and experience in family medicine/primary care that could involve all of Central and Eastern Europe. This region lacks a journal dedicated to communities of scholars and professionals in these branches of medicine. The Master Class Session is designed with PhD candidates and PhD researchers in mind. The Early Stage Researchers Class is designed for students and graduates planning their future academic career. Within those sessions, we have planned 15 minute oral presentations.

Much medical research is observational. The reporting of observational studies is often of insufficient quality. Poor reporting hampers the assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a study and the generalisability of its results. Taking into account empirical evidence and theoretical considerations, a group of methodologists, researchers, and editors developed the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) recommendations to improve the quality of reporting of observational studies. Unfinished tuberculosis (TB) treatment has become an unexpected event in the disease’s development into drug-resistant TB. Developing countries, have been overwhelmed in preventing drug-resistant TB outcomes and have also failed to avoid the development of this disease. Adequate utilization of primary care directly reflects the health status of the population. In Georgia (Republic), many patients seek care without a referral by a primary-care provider, and as a result, patient referral rates to family physicians are low. Verulava et al. studied the problem of the low rate of patient referrals to family physicians. Authors concluded that due to inadequate reimbursement, family physicians do not have enough motivation to provide adequate service, and the lack of continuous professional education negatively affects their professional development.
