Wczoraj minęła okrągła 90 rocznica śmierci austriackiego kompozytora oraz autora tekstów- Friedricha Schwartza. Friedrich urodził się 08.06.1895 roku w Berlinie, skąd na początku lat dwudziestych przeprowadził się do Wiednia. Tam ukończył szkołę muzyczną. Był autorem licznych, przedwojennych szlagierów. Jednak najbardziej znany jego tekst, rozpowszechniony w latach późniejszych przez brytyjską emigrację żydowską (John Hendrik), to piękna melodyczna opowieść o żydowskiej tułaczce (Ich hab kein Heimatland). Była to jego ostatnia pieśń skomponowana w Niemczech. Po dojściu Hi**era do władzy emigrował wraz z żoną dalej na Zachód. Zmarł w niewyjaśnionych okolicznościach w pokoju hotelowym w Paryżu.
,,Żydowskie tango'', jak sam nazywał autor swoją pieśń, opowiada o tragizmie losu żydowskiego, w którym motyw tułacza wiąże się z tęsknotą za nieobecną ojczyną. Wędrówka żydowska może być tutaj potraktowana zarówno dosłownie, jak i symbolicznie, ukazując owo roztargnienie pomiędzy obiema tożsamościami: żydowską i kraju zamieszkania. Niezależnie jednak czy Żydzi czuli się ,,Żydami jedynie w domu'', czy też kultywowali tradycje i religię (Europa Wschodnia) zgodnie z obyczajem, to zawsze dominowała obcość oraz brak poczucia znalezienia swojego miejsca na ziemi.

Yesterday was the round 90th anniversary of the death of Austrian composer and lyricist Friedrich Schwartz. Friedrich was born on 08.06.1895 in Berlin, from where he moved to Vienna in the early 1920s. There he graduated from a music school. He was the author of numerous pre-war hits. But his best-known text, popularized in later years by the British Jewish emigration (John Hendrik), is a beautiful melodic tale of Jewish wandering (Ich hab kein Heimatland). It was his last song composed in Germany. After Hi**er came to power, he emigrated with his wife further west. He died in unexplained circumstances in a hotel room in Paris.
, "Jewish Tango", as the author himself called his song, tells of the tragedy of the Jewish fate, in which the motif of wandering is connected with longing for the absent homeland. The Jewish wandering here can be taken both literally and symbolically, showing this disjunction between the two identities: the Jewish and the country of residence. However, regardless of whether Jews felt , "Jews only at home," or whether they cultivated traditions and religion (Eastern Europe) according to custom, alienation and the lack of a sense of finding one's place on earth always prevailed.

Kiedyś w trakcie pewnej rozmowy usłyszałem, że u osób niebędących Żydami, ale czującymi ,,niewytłumaczalny'' związek z religią i kulturą żydowską, odzywa się pierwiastek duszy ich żydowskich przodków. O wędrówce dusz wspomina kabała. Na przestrzeni wieków wielu Żydów konwertowało na chrześcijaństwo. Przyczyn tego zjawiska było bardzo wiele. Czasami była to jedyna droga do zrobienia kariery, w czasach kiedy wiele stanowisk i urzędów było dla Żydów niedostępnych. Innym razem przyczyny te były prozaiczne- z powodu chęci zawarcia ślubu z osobą pochodzenia nieżydowskiego. Wspomniany dzisiaj przykład pochodzi z krakowskiego Podgórza. 23 lutego 1859 roku ochrzciła się Victoria Maria Rosenzweig, córka krakowskiego lekarza Henryka Saula Rosenzweiga (ca. 1798-1853). Z rodziny Rozenzweigów wywodziło się wielu lekarzy, m.in. Leon Rozezweig oraz Michał Julian. Obaj również konwertowali na chrześcijaństwo. Sam Henryk był wszechstronnie wykształcony. Ukończył studia medyczne w Berlinie. Był m.in. dyrektorem szpitala żydowskiego w Kazimierzu. W Krakowie cieszył się powszechnym uznaniem i szacunkiem. Był również autorem książki poświęconej opisowi cholery, pt.: ,, Choleram ejus naturam breviler descriptio'' (Kraków 1850). Zmarł 12 stycznia 1853 roku w Krakowie.

Dzisiaj przedstawiamy Państwu sylwetkę dr Elsy Esther Rabin, z domu Hes. Urodziła się w 25.09.1889 roku w sakońskim Papenburgu, jako córka Isaaka Wolfa Hessa i Jetki Henrietty, z domu Fridberger. Studia z zakresu filozofii ukończyła w ówczesnym Breslau (Wrocław). Po ukończeniu studiów prowadziła nadal swoją aktywność naukową w Instytucie Wrocławskim. Dla nas jej działalność była szczególna, ze względu na jej zaangażowanie na rzecz praw kobiet. Była propagatorką nowoczesnej myśli na temat roli kobiet w judaiźmie. Wygłaszała liczne odczyty, m.in. w górnośląskim Beuthen, w sali loży Mamreh. W środowisku śląskich Żydów cieszyła się niemałym autorytetem. Ester zmarła 14.04.1978 w Haife.
