A Decade of Partnership Strengthening Public Health Workforce

We begin this series by introducing Dr. Christian Gloria, Director and Principal Investigator of the Region 2 Public Health Training Center (R2PHTC), based at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

R2PHTC is one of ten federally supported public health training centers in the United States, serving:

• New York
• New Jersey
• Puerto Rico
• U.S. Virgin Islands

Since 2015, Impactivo has partnered with Region 2 Public Health Training Center (R2PHTC) to strengthen public health workforce development in Puerto Rico through grant-supported initiatives grounded in cultural relevance, accountability, and implementation rigor.

This conversation was conducted by:
• Bekah Curtis, Project Lead for Columbia–R2PHTC at Impactivo
• Mileiza Charriez, Project Coordinator and Impactivo–R2PHTC Webinar Coordinator

In the coming days, we will share additional reflections on the importance of trusted local partnerships, workforce development, and long-term public health impact.
