On my journey of helping people unearth their calling, I've immersed myself in this concept of Dharma. Dharma isn't just about pinpointing your talents and passions; it's about positively impacting the world and society, contributing your unique gifts.
I've stumbled upon a sort of magical Dharma formula: Passion + Skills + Usefulness + Compassion = Dharma.
Trust me, each of us carries hidden skills, passions, and untapped potential. You might not see them right away, but they're always there, waiting to be discovered. As we embark on the quest to uncover our purpose, we often try new things, hoping to master them instantly. If we don't, it's not because we lack expertise; it's that we haven't given enough room for exploration and connection with our true calling. We just need to keep going to gain the experience we're seeking.
In my experience, many people successfully identify their passions and skills, but what's frequently missing for truly embracing their Dharma is infusing compassion and usefulness. Compassion is that deep inner pain, longing to be seen and heard. If you're unsure how to tap into your compassion, reflect on moments when you felt lost or in need; there, you'll find the key to unlocking your compassion.
I distinctly recall a session with a few friends who hesitated when I encouraged them to follow the pain in their hearts to connect with their compassion. They told me, "But Raimonda, I don't want to go there." It hit me hard that many of us shy away from living our calling because we fear delving into our innermost vulnerabilities—it's like reopening an old wound. Yet, it's often within those vulnerable spaces that we uncover the genuine essence of our Dharma.
If you know your passions and skills - great, you know what you love! But if you connect your talents and passions to your compassion and make it useful - that's your purpose, not just a hobby.
