Luca Hamblen | National XC – U20 Super Sprint Champ 🏆

Luca Hamblen is your National Cross Country U20 Super Sprint Champion.

The Aldershot man was on a mission. From the gun, he dropped a cog and surged into what proved to be an insurmountable lead.

Luca passed the FLYCARB gates in a cool 2:44, equivalent to a 2:37 1km, a few tenths faster than senior men’s winner Hugo Milner.

Despite going full lactic, the BICARRB magic helped Luca bounceback and deliver a composed performance in the 10km race, finishing 25th overall and helping AFD claim team gold.

Take a bow, Luca. You are the lactic king.

Connie Jenneson | National XC Super Sprint Champ 🏆

Connie Jenneson is your National Cross Country U20 Super Sprint Champion.

Connie proved to be one of the National Super Sprint’s most shrewd tacticians.

She sat in the pack until 30m to go before unleashing a big kick to the line, surging through the FLYCARB flags to claim her £100.

Despite that lactic effort, the Buxton AC athlete still managed to finish in an impressive top 30.

Take a bow, Connie. You are the lactic queen 🥣📈

Hugo Milner | National XC – Super Sprint Champion 🏆

Hugo Milner is your National Cross Country Super Sprint Champion. The outright national champion had his sights set on the Super Sprint bonus from the off, but faced a strong challenge from reigning champion
⚫⚪

Hugo made the start deliberately hard, both to test his competition for the full race and to drain the kick from those targeting the Super Sprint. Despite the hills and turns, he covered the Sprint in 2:44 for a distance that measured 40m over 1km.

It’s pretty incredible to think Hugo went out at sub-4 1500m pace on grass and hills, then went on to win the full 12km+ course.

Is there a fitter man in the UK right now?

We caught up with Hugo at the presentation.

On targeting the Super Sprint bonus:

🗣️ “I made it hard from the start and covered the late moves to the line with a final surge. Glad I’d taken bicarb for the rest of the race.”

On the Super Sprint itself, he said:

🗣️ “I really like the innovation. It’s good to capture the race within a race that works so well in cycling.”

Chapeau to Hugo. A performance that is frankly mind blowing.

The Data Behind the FLYCARB Super Sprint 📈👀

At this year’s National XC, we held the FLYCARB Super Sprint and crowned 4 x sprint champions

The timing mat at just over 1km into the course captured a unique split and has enabled us to pull together an interactive data tool that lets you explore:

• The biggest climbers 📈
• The biggest fallers 📉
• Who held their nerve
• Who went out hard
• And who timed it perfectly

Comparing positions at the Super Sprint with the final results throws up some seriously interesting insights!

Fun fact: in the senior men’s race, only six athletes maintained their position from the Super Sprint to the finish. was a double winner and FLYCARB'S very own was another with a double 9th!

Tom Keen | British Champion - 3000m 🏆🇬🇧

In one of the most exciting finishes of the British Championships, Tom Keen kicked hard to take the British 3000m title.

The final 100m was too close to call, with Tom and Henry McLuckie battling all the way to the line, but Tom edged it by just two hundredths of a second.

A devastating kick and another national title, fuelled by Mango BICARRB.

Alex Bell | 69:35 Burj 2 Burj Half 🇦🇪

Alex Bell’s rapid rise in the road running world hit another huge milestone today in Dubai.

She smashed the 70-minute barrier for the first time, clocking a mighty 69:35 for the half marathon.

That performance puts Alex joint 2nd on the European rankings, and places her in a commanding position for selection heading into the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen this September.

From the half mile to the half marathon, Alex’s distance journey is a masterclass in smart training, patience, and commitment.

From a FLYCARB perspective, Alex's progression is a powerful demonstration of just how effective bicarb can be over longer distances, where performance gains average ~1.4% (around 60 seconds over an hour).
