Hi there!
I'm Romy, since my early childhood I've always been on the search for a balance between my full happy energy side and the soft, tender and calm side. From a teenage semi-professional tennis player in the south of the Netherlands to a student rower in Amsterdam, I found my way to Nepal in 2018 where my real path into the world of yoga started, a big crossroad in my life.
Every year since I kept coming back to the foothills of the Himalayas, for amazing teachers such as Madan in Pokhara (who is still my mom's private teacher!), for withdrawing myself for weeks, and eventually months, into the mountains of this beloved country. End of 2019 I crossed over to India, where I bumped into an amazing Vinyasa teacher, Azuka Kantimatta. For 4 weeks I didn't miss a single class she was teaching and eventually I asked her: "do you know any teacher trainings around here?" her answer with a strong french accent: "well I can only recommend two, and one of them you can't go because it's only for Swedish people".
It got me to Diya Yoga School in the south of Arambol, India, where I was trained in a 200H Multistyle TTC by 3 amazing teachers which I am forever grateful to: Meera Prem, Azuka Kantimatta & Disha Deshpande. Giving me the freedom to create and design the classes that align with me, a mix between traditions from India & teachings from the west, happy full energy & soft calmness.
So this is me, the story how I got to where I am now, since september 2020 here in the magic triangle which we call South West Portugal, teaching weekly classes in a venue I could only have dreamt of. I'm looking forward to meet you, to be of service and to guide you throughout the classes.
Much love,
Romy
