Doctor of Chiropractic Dr Wen Oates DC MChiro was born in Beijing where, after leaving school, she trained and worked as a liver transplant and A&E nurse in Beijing's top teaching hospital. In 2002, she met her English teacher and broadcast journalist husband Geoff at a Bournemouth language school...and the rest, as they say, is history! She studied and trained at Europe's premier and longest-established chiropractic school, the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, England and graduated with a Master of Chiropractic degree. Having sold her clinic in Lagos, Dr Wen moved to Gibraltar for a while, but has now returned to the Algarve where she is once again looking after the residents, expats and holidaymakers in Lagos and Portimão who are suffering from annoying back and neck pain.

We haven't posted on this page for a while because we've been helping set up a new chiropractic clinic in Shanghai, China. But now we're back in Luz and Lagos in the sunny Algarve and treating patients with all the usual aches and pains...it's good to be back 😊

Our Story

Doctor of Chiropractic Dr Wen Oates was born in Beijing where, after leaving school, she trained and worked as a liver transplant and A&E nurse in Beijing's top city hospital. In 2002, Wen met her English teacher and broadcast journalist husband Geoff at a Bournemouth language school...and the rest, as they say, is history! She studied and trained at Europe's premier and longest-established chiropractic school, the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, England and graduated with a Master of Chiropractic degree and Merit.

Having sold her chiropractic clinic on Portugal's Algarve coast at the end of 2018, Dr Wen took a year out from practice to enjoy a semi-retired expat lifestyle of relaxing by the pool or paddling in the ocean. She is now back helping patients get back to full fitness by working as a ‘locum’ with other clinics and health centres in the Algarve.

At their home near the beach in Luz, Wen and her husband are 'mum and dad' to two adorable British Shorthair pedigree cats.
