Folks your mind does Yin and Yang just like the rest of nature. Trying to force the mind to concentrate all the time - or berate yourself for being unable to focus - just isn’t the way, literally. Even though in our western culture we push this perception - even when someone is day dreaming we ask them to snap out of it! Sometimes you just need to take a break and let the mind recoil inside and wander, or indeed ‘wonder’ to do some interior processing. You want to get good at focusing? Get good at really letting go as well (getting great sleep also of course is fundamentally helpful!) More in my book at www.creativewellness.co.uk or check out the link in my bio. 🌟
In my happy place at the treatment rooms at ! (And yes before you ask I do have the patients permission for the images!) It was just such a tranquil moment, patient seemingly perfectly relaxed on the couch, such a subtle intervention of the acupuncture needles but having such a profound impact. Love just sitting in the chair and ‘feeling’ a room that just feels full of peace, and a patient in a peaceful state. It’s just one of those things I do that feels so easy, usually much easier than the rest of my life, demeanour relaxed, personality calm, a sense of control - but not because of structure but because it has a sense of ease and familiarity. My everyday demeanour - particularly around people - can be much more fast and furious, and lacking assuredness and feeling much less fulfilling and needy. Somehow I feel whole in a treatment room. Guess that’s what happens when we are doing a soulful activity, right? 😊

I’ve often written about how we all have a Dao, or path, which in health we follow and all is good, and how sometimes we stray from it!
So my chart shows how we become separated from our Tao / Path / Oneness, and how it also connects into Chinese Medicine (which is essentially the healing/medical application of the wisdom of Taoism)
It illustrates the dynamic relationship between the forces of nature and what goes on within the body, seen from the Taoist and Chinese medicine perspective of elements, meridian and (acupuncture) points, and how they can come out of balance when we lose connection to natural rhythms, and the various stages it happens (note the Chinese say that there are five seasons instead of four, they include late summer as a season).

Richard is founder of Creative Wellness (www.creativewellness.co.uk) and Creative Yoga, and a specialist in 5 Elements Acupuncture, Dru Yoga, Meditation, Holistic Education and the Body-Mind connection. He’s passionate about understanding and creating what you need to have a successful life – measured from the deepest level of your own perception, not through achieving in the eyes of others.
With over 20 years of experience, he is a true Holistic expert. He graduated the renowned College of Traditional Acupuncture and went on to have successful practices in the Midlands, Bristol, London, the Algarve and Lisbon.
Alongside this he developed his Creative Yoga brand into one of London’s most unique and exciting yoga projects, organising and teaching some of the capitals biggest and most unique events. Understanding people’s holistic needs as ever, there’s also a strong emphasis on connection and community, with events having in-built social elements – rare in the yoga world! He’s now bringing his innovative events to Lisbon.
He has worked internationally, helping facilitate programmes at Moinhos Velhos Juice detox retreat, directly contributing to it becoming rated amongst the top 10 detox retreats in the world by The Times newspaper. This extensive role set saw him practicing acupuncture, teaching yoga, meditation, mindfulness and delivering holistic education and creative visioning workshops to a closed group, quite a journey!
His wellness blog is one of the best of it’s kind, demonstrating his broad reaching knowledge, experience and passion to share what can be of help to others.
He has helped thousands of clients, been featured across many media channels, organised and taught at many high-profile events, and delivered wellbeing programmes to multinational clients.
Balancing Your Inside and Outside World
His awareness that treating both the ‘internal’ aspects of a persons health – their body, thoughts and feelings – and also appreciating that their ‘external’ life circumstances – occupation, home and relationships – have to be supportive and nourishing to achieve optimum health set him apart as a true holistic leader. He fluidly combines the role of practitioner, teacher and coach.
He specialises in understanding how a great deal of what we experience in our mind and emotions originates from stress within particular organs and ‘body memory’ from experiences we’ve been involved in. His treatments are very effective at balancing these deeper aspects of us that can often contribute to emotional strain, depression, stress and anxiety alongside treating the more common physical conditions.
He also empowers his clients to understand that achieving balance is built into creation and our human instinct.
