On this Tuesday of , we highlight the impact of all forms of Trauma and Violence on young people worldwide. Youth violence is a significant global public health problem. It includes bullying, physical assault, sexual violence and death by homicide.
Globally approximately 200 000 homicides occur among youth 10–29 years annually and homicide is the fourth leading cause of death in this age group. For each young person killed, many more sustain injuries requiring hospital treatment and untold emotional trauma.
Youth violence has a serious, often lifelong, impact on overall wellbeing. As we support the optimal Transition of adolescents, what can we do in our communities to reduce and prevent youth violence?
