Today, in the operating room, the future happened.

A surgery on a young man with a brain tumour. At the table, doctors. Beside them, science. Neurosurgeon and GIMM researcher Cláudia Faria followed this moment, a concrete example of the close connection between scientific research, clinical practice, and patients, in close collaboration with ULS Santa Maria.

During the surgery, samples of tears, blood, tumor tissue and brain fluid were collected for the biobank. Rare and precious materials with enormous potential. Each sample is knowledge. Each gesture is a step towards better understanding the disease and transforming what we are not yet able to treat.

This is where research stops being abstract.
This is where the laboratory meets the hospital.
This is where science meets people.

This direct connection is not just important. It is essential. It is how science gains a human face, urgency, and real impact on patients’ lives.

Science made with doctors.
Science made with patients.
Science made for the future.

This is not tomorrow.
This is now.

Hoje, no bloco operatório, o futuro aconteceu.

Uma cirurgia a um jovem com um tumor cerebral. À mesa, médicos. Ao lado, ciência. A neurocirurgiã e investigadora da Fundação GIMM, Cláudia Faria, acompanhou este momento, num exemplo concreto da proximidade entre a investigação científica, a prática clínica e os doentes, em estreita colaboração com a ULS Santa Maria.

Durante a cirurgia, foram recolhidas amostras de lágrimas, sangue, tecido tumoral e liquor para o biobanco. Materiais raros, preciosos, com enorme potencial. Cada amostra é conhecimento. Cada gesto é um passo para compreender melhor a doença e transformar o que hoje ainda não conseguimos tratar.

É aqui que a investigação deixa de ser abstrata.
É aqui que o laboratório encontra o hospital.
É aqui que a ciência encontra as pessoas.

Esta ligação direta não é apenas importante. É essencial. É assim que a ciência ganha rosto, urgência e impacto real na vida dos doentes.

Ciência feita com os médicos.
Ciência feita com os doentes.
Ciência feita para o futuro.

Isto não é o amanhã.
Isto é agora.
