This 49-year-old patient presented to our clinic following extensive orthodontic and periodontal treatment, as well as implant placement. Her chief complaint was the presence of black triangles visible in her smile. Upon initial assessment, a marked facial asymmetry with an occlusal plane tilt was also observed. The case was managed according to the facial flow concept described by Silva et al. (2019). The patient was rehabilitated with six feldspathic veneers, from teeth 13 to 23, for black triangle closure, and monolithic zirconia crowns on tooth 24 (following endodontic treatment) and on implants 14, 26, 45, and 46.

Female patient, 31, presenting with lateral incisor agenesis and previously placed narrow, malpositioned implants. Treatment included removal of old cemented crowns, placement of two sets of provisional crowns, connective tissue graft at the peri-implant site of tooth 22, and aesthetic restorations on teeth 13 and 23. Final rehabilitation on implants in positions 12 and 22 was planned in collaboration with the lab, using customized zirconia abutments and feldspathic veneers.

A young patient presented for a comprehensive oral rehabilitation, with both functional and aesthetic demands. The case posed significant clinical challenges, requiring a combined multidisciplinary approach for both arches.
After thorough prosthodontic planning, based on digital diagnostic waxing and subsequent clinical validation through a mock-up, the mandibular arch was rehabilitated with implants and ceramic crowns, re-establishing function and occlusal stability.
In the maxillary arch, a conservative approach was prioritized, opting for a biomimetic adhesive rehabilitation with anterior feldspathic veneers and posterior vennerlays, in accordance with the principles of maximum dental structure preservation.
Final case stabilization was achieved with a rigid myorelaxant splint.

A 38-year-old patient came to FMDUL seeking to improve her self-esteem, gingival health, aesthetics, and restore teeth lost over the years.
This case posed major challenges with tooth distribution, diastemas, black triangles, and non-ideal proportions.

Using a reverse-planning approach, we started with digital planning, fabrication, and approval of a mock-up. After achieving optimal oral hygiene control, the endodontic treatment began with multiple root canals and a periapical surgery. We then rehabilitated the anterior teeth with zirconia crowns, placed implants in the 2nd and 3rd quadrants, and completed direct restorations on the upper premolars.

A female patient attended our appointment with concerns in the upper anterior region, reporting chromatic and textural changes of her composite resin restorations.
A fully digital, prosthetically guided reverse planning approach was implemented. Through digital wax-up, complementary diagnostic exams, and mock-up testing, we were able to deliver a highly predictable treatment that exceeded the patient’s expectations.
The treatment plan involved guided crown lengthening followed by the placement of six milled leucite veneers.
This case highlights the applicability of digital tools and the advantages of a completely digital workflow, from diagnosis to the finalization with veneers.

We had the pleasure of hosting Module 6 of the EAO Diploma in Implant Dentistry from 26 to 28 June at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon.

Our postgraduate program had the honor of participating in this event through a lecture by Professor Duarte Marques, entitled “Patient Selection and Treatment Planning: From Analogue to Digital.”
The lecture was followed by a hands-on session led by our alumni and current students, where international participants had the opportunity to explore a wide range of cutting-edge digital technologies, including intraoral scanners, extraoral facial scanners, photogrammetry, and a jaw motion analyzer.

It was a privilege to contribute to such an enriching and international learning experience!

This 65-year-old male patient came to us with both functional and aesthetic concerns, looking for a fixed alternative to his removable prosthesis.
He presented with loss of vertical dimension, missing teeth, edentulous spaces, and significant wear across the dentition.
We followed a comprehensive treatment plan involving implant placement, soft tissue grafting, and a functional mock-up to guide the restoration. The provisional phase allowed us to reestablish vertical dimension and stabilize the occlusion. In the lower arch, we used the pressed composite technique for direct restorations, while the upper arch was rehabilitated with monolithic zirconia restorations on natural teeth and implants.

A full-mouth rehabilitation focused on restoring function, comfort, and esthetics—with long-term stability in mind.
