About three years ago I hired an agency to help me do a full rebrand. We worked on the vision together, they went off to execute… and when the first version came back, it just wasn’t me. We revised and revised, but it never clicked.

Not their fault. Through the process I realized I’m an impossible client for agencies. It’s important to me to have a deep emotional connection to the finished product and I found that for me, it comes from being deeply involved in the creation itself.

So I scrapped the whole thing. Yes, after paying quite a big sum 💸. Painful lesson, but a needed one.

Now I knew what I didn’t want, but I didn’t yet know how to create what I did want. So I stayed stuck. Until years later, one morning in Thailand (Thailand can be magical like that), something shifted.

The vision for how things should feel finally fully landed in my system. I started pulling references, visuals, creating mood boards - the whole thing. Hours and hours passed by in this creative vortex, and when I finally came out, I knew I had something that felt like me.

Once I had the visual language I loved, we got to work with my creative team (support that i didn’t have 3 years ago) and I loved every second of our creative collaboration.

Now, many months later, the new KD identity and website is (almost) here. And I couldn’t be more excited! 🫶🏼

This isn’t just a new look - it is the start of a new chapter. One I finally feel aligned with.

And I hope it resonates with you too.

My Prague apartment is finally starting to come together (it only took more than a year 🙃) and I couldn’t be happier!

I started the project with a certain idea in mind but as it progressed, it took on a different shape. I’ve loved the process of seeing my design aesthetic emerge in this way.

I couldn’t have done it without the support from my incredible interior designer who totally understood my need for this process to be slow and intentional.

Can’t wait to share the finished space!

Not normal enough to fit in
yet not different enough
to be recognized as special
so I’m standing here
tasting lukewarm
attracting a very distinct tribe.

☝️something I wrote years ago I still really resonate with + outfit photo dump 🐥.

Makes me realize I really miss writing.

Do your kick ups look like this? Save this for your next handstand session!

Instead of just mindlessly trying to get up, set yourself up for success with these cues:

👉 start with your hands on the floor and push!
👉 make sure to bring shoulders over wrists
👉 bring shoulders towards the ears by pushing strongly to your hands
👉 lower ribs in

This way - when you actually kick up, you’ll have a better chance of actually catching balance because at least your upper body is in a correct alignment.

FYI - learning to balance in your handstand takes time and alignment is just one part of the equation. Correct alignment is not a magic pill. Handstands are a skill that take plenty of practice.

How are your kick ups going? 👇👀

Trouble with kick-ups and balance? Save this👆

Aquiring balance in our handstands takes a looong time..

But if you’re at the very beginning stages of your handstand journey and you’re struggling with kick-ups, this might be relevant for you.

👉 Oftentimes I see beginners trying to kick up while having their neck and head relaxed and looking through instead of looking in between their hands.

That is something that completely throws off your proprioception (awareness of where your body is in space).

It is fine for handbalancers who have already aquired that sense of balance on their hands but definitely not a way to go for beginners.

Next time, make sure to look in between your hands when you’re kicking up for a better sense of where you are in space and see if it helps you getting up.

Consider this just one small tip on a big journey that is handbalancing 😉.

I hope it helps! 🤙

I’ve been replying to some of your emails yesterday and there was a common theme - you being injured or sick.

It’s a common theme in my life, as well - especially when it comes to my practice - and I’d like to offer some thoughts.

When I started yoga, I had a hamstring injury. When I got into handbalancing, I had issues with my wrists. Then my forearm got injured. I was sick numerous times throughout the years, I broke my ankle..

I used to get so frustrated when things didn’t go as planned. When I got sick, injured or when my progress stalled.

The thing is - I’ve been through this cycle so many time now that it’s not even a cycle anymore. It just is. It just goes.

👉 We are living human beings.

Things happen.

As much as we try to prevent it with proper technique, mobility and strength training, if you’re a human on this earth globe, you’re probably gonna get pains and aches. You’ll get injured. It’s not a maybe, it’s guaranteed.

I no longer consider injuries necessarily bad. They’re annoying - yes. But it’s just a signal from your body - telling you something. We can also see them as an invitation - to refocus on something else, to try something different.

Injury is not necessarily a sign to stop everything. In my own practice, I’m always trying to find a way how to work around them. If I would stop everything every time something hurts, I would not be practicing much.

That’s not to say to push it when your body tells you to rest. But if one limb hurts, we still have other limbs to move 🙌.

So if you’re dealing with an injury / sickness, just know: It is temporary. It will change. And ask yourself what can you do and how can you move around that?

Any thoughts on the subject? Let me know👇
