The 𝗚𝟮𝟬 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 has started today and will last until tomorrow.

This year theme is “𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧”. Indonesia’s G20 Presidency, has settle the main topics to be discussed as following:

🌏𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲;

🌏𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻;

🌏𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀;

During President von der Leyen statement, has been pointed two other points that need to be addressed with urgency, being the food and energy crisis. Both points worsened by the disquieting Russia’s war.

Until now the EU has mobilised alternative transport routes to export agri-food products from Ukraine, more than 15 million tonnes. Also committing to ramp up global food security aid up to 8 billion euros, over the next 3 years for food assistance and local food production.

As for energy, the EU is already setting up its contribution for green transition, mobilising 4 billion euros in the next 5 years, for investment in renewable energy, through Global Gateway investment strategy.

Cyber Defence: EU boosts action against cyber threats

Cyberspace has no borders. Recent cyber-attacks on energy networks, transport infrastructure and space assets show the risks that they pose to both civilian and military actors. This calls for more action to protect citizens, armed forces, as well as the EU's civilian and military missions and operations, against cyber threats.

Zero-emission cars by 2035: new EU rules explained

By 2035, all new cars manufactured for the EU market should produce zero-emissions. This is what Parliament is aiming for with new rules on CO2 emission standards for cars and vans as part of the Fit for 55 package. Older cars (including diesel cars) will be allowed to continue running until the end of their lifetime, but investing in future vehicles starts now. MEPs want car manufacturers to start developing affordable electric cars and vans now, in order to meet market demand by 2035 and reach the EU’s 2050 climate objectives.

𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘀

Road transport accounts for about a fifth of the EU’s carbon emissions. The EU wants to reduce its impact on the climate by promoting the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels.

🔋Alternative fuels for zero-emission vehicles include 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻.

♻️Renewable fuels include 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀, 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀, including ammonia (mentioned earlier), produced from renewable energy.

🔎There are other fuels that could help reduce emissions on the way to achieving zero emissions from transport, such as Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), Compressed natural gas (CNG), Liquefied natural gas (LNG) and Synthetic and paraffinic fuels.
