Companhia's mission is to search for a way of life in harmony with nature and therefor to live as sustainable as possible. This way, we want to minimize our dependence on modern society. It’s really a permanent search: to what extend is it possible to provide for our own needs? Self-sufficiency is what we want to achieve, eventually. You could describe Companhia as a project that wants to evolve through the past. It means moving back to a natural way of living that also fits into the present. This isn’t possible without giving up certain luxuries, but… less is more! We make use of rural heritage, such as knowledge of medicinal plants, cultivation calendars and traditional ecological building methods. It is enhanced with modern but environmental friendly techniques such as led lighting, and ways of generating our own energy supplies. Our goal is to search for the ideal combination of traditional knowledge and new technologies, to find a balance between past, present and future. Opportunities:
Companhia is a place to give opportunities to many in very different ways. We like to be the accommodator of different projects such as workshops, youth camps, teambuilding, social projects, yoga retreat, … Everything is possible here. In 2012 we started a collaboration with a collective of ecological minded student architects (Dartele Bouwers). We gave them the freedom to design and build our communal room and bar space. They realized their first building before finishing studies. We give people who want to try this lifestyle the chance to experience nature in all its beauty. Several short and long term volunteers are staying with us, and together we keep on building up this project. As we live in a community we grow food for the guests that come next. Companhia likes to expand; not to benefit a few but to give more people the chance to renew contact with nature and fulfil their dreams. Companhia is a place where your creativity can flourish, a place where you can gather inspiration and let it come out. It’s wonderful if creative people have an idea and can work it out. Nature is art by itself, but nature is also a canvas to paint, a paper to write, a stone to sculpture, our stage to play on. Ecological farm:
The main objective of Companhia is to be a self-sufficient ecological farm. We produce all our food in an organic way with respect for nature. A big vegetable and herb garden is our natural supermarket. Besides, we collect what nature provides us in the wild (mushrooms, nuts, fruits, etc…). Animals are also an important part of our farm. They give us milk, eggs and the needed manure to feed the plants in the garden as well as the occasional bits of healthy meat. We also make our own cheese, bread, fruit juice, liquor, olive oil, soap, …

We are living in a time where it becomes very difficult to find a place where everything feels true, honest and real. More and more people have the need to escape the chaos of modern society for a while. They need a place to spend holidays and to disconnect from the daily routine. Companhia is a dream destination for a holiday in the free nature. Space enough to put up your tent on a beautiful spot. It’s a perfect playground for both grownups and children. Discovering the valley, building camps and taking part in the farm life are among the many things to experience. Guests get the chance to renew their contact with nature. That’s why only basic comfort is provided to the visitors in a natural and harmonious surrounding.
