Every day I see newborn babies. I check their well being. I always try and turn to the Mother and ask " How ARE you". Many times I find tears running down after that question.
Never underestimate the impact of a new human being, It's TOUGH! And there basically is no way out of it ! I urge all new moms out there, reach out and ask for help if you think you can't cope. Your well being is as important as your baby's. Don't cry silently and don't stay alone. Xx

I see many children in my practice whom get labelled ..ADHD, in attentiveness, unable to focus, learning difficulty, behind,,,,,etc..The reality for many (not all children ), that the educational system is too rigid to accommodate those who don't hold the same logic. I am not sure what's the solution to this as we still need schools for education,...but it's just a reminder that the system is not always perfect for all children. If a child fails, it's the system in many cases who failed him not vice versa ...

IIs my baby protected for the first 2 months after delivery?
Your baby is only protected through the antibodies he receives from you during pregnancy until his 2nd month vaccination. If you are pregnant, you can safely help protect your newborn by getting vaccinated against whooping cough from 28 week – 38 weeks

How can we protect our babies from whooping cough?It is very important for your baby to get his whooping cough vaccine (DTaP) on time so he can start building his own protection against the disease. Your baby will need several doses of DTaP vaccine to best protect him. His first dose is when he is 2 months old. He will need 2 more doses after that, given at 4 months and 6 months, to build up high levels of protection, and then booster shots at 15 through 18 months and at 4 through 6 years to maintain that protection.

Prevention is the best way to protect your baby and others from getting this infection.
Infants are at higher risk of contracting the infection from close contacts, and they are at higher risk of suffering from it's complications.
Prevention is through vaccination. more details will follow.

Whooping cough:
The clinical presentation of pertussis (whooping cough)varies depending upon the age vaccination status of the child. Atypical presentations occur in young infants, whose who have been previously vaccinated and older children and adolescents with waning immunity.
It is important to remember that neither natural infection nor vaccination confers life-long immunity.
