BirthAura - Education, Coaching & Doula Support in Qatar & Beyond I share my passion of childbirth to all who would want a birth that is rewarding and empowering. Based in Qatar, serving worldwide.

Certified Childbirth Educator (Lamaze),
Certified Doula (AMANI)
Certified Transformational Birth Support Coach (BCM) I am a modern-day nomad whose path leads me to different cities every few years with my husband and 4 children. My passion to help birthing women started when I was in university. That was when I was introduced to a midwifery course which my friends were taking. But I already started another course and decided to complete that instead. I only managed to go deeper into being a birthworker when my last child was a toddler. My heart feels so much beauty and wonder of birth. How the body works in harmony with another human being growing in it is a miracle. A woman is empowered through learning what her body can do and engaging it to bring another life in this world. It's about taking ownership of her body and working with it, making informed decisions, trusting her instincts and surrendering herself to the flow of birth. It's with this insight, that I would like to help women find the power and strength within themselves, to know that they can give birth the best way with their body and with what their hearts and minds feel at ease with. Helping women shift, transform and experience the miraculous touches of birth brings me great joy and fulfilment. For no matter how their journey to bring their baby to this world unfolds, they traverse their birth routes with trust, presence, courage and growth. This programme challenges you to observe and contemplate your self and your stories. Do they build or stunt you? Do they help you grow or cause you to remain stagnant? It challenges you to reflect on the current you and what you want to become. It challenges you to take small steps so that you can go further the distance. Because being an ‘abd does not stop at Ramadan. It continues beyond that on top of bringing another servant of Allah to this world. How would you want his/her entrance to be? How would you want to be when the world receives him/her?

This challenge stretches out for 4 weeks so that you can have a chunk of time before Ramadan to form habits, make the changes that you’d like, and continue doing so within Ramadan. You would benefit best by being honest, vulnerable and courageous to look within yourself while taking into account the realities that surround you. We will be doing some journaling, and ‘hands on’ changes that you can see. There will be a community of sisters to give encouragement, support and share views so that you can help yourself and prepare for this amazing month.

Don't miss experiencing a deep connection with the words of Allah as you go through labour and birth your baby.

Remember that you are not just a body birthing to a baby, but you are a believer in Allah, birthing another believer who is heading to jannah.

And with that, being connected to the Qur'an is powerful as you ride those waves of contractions while you feel and live the signs of Allah through the verse: Verily with every hardship, comes relief. With every hardship comes relief (Surah Al-Inshirah)

Is it mere coincidence that this verse encapsulates every wave of contractions that you feel? Is it mere coincidence that the title of the surah brings meaning to the expansion of the heart, a surah that is meant to bring solace, peace and comfort?

And what did Allah say at the end of it?

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ ‎﴿٧﴾‏ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَب ‎﴿٨﴾‏

And when you are free (of your tasks/obligations), strive hard (in worship). And to your Lord, (direct) your longing.

Let's bring back the spirituality in birth, let's connect back to the love that Allah has for us, shown through His loving mercy (rahmah) as He sees us through bringing and receiving our child in this world.

How would you show up for your birth knowing that birthing is more than just pain?

How would you approach and prepare for this incredible experience, knowing that it will bring a renewal and elevation in you to be closer to Him and for you to fulfill the motherhood that is to come?

Like and comment if this resonates with you.

Your being was never meant to be static and stagnant.

Allah is not just a creator who creates and stops. He fashions and continues to sculpt and mold us for us to grow and develop into the beings blessed with a higher purpose and be the best that we can.

For that to happen hold space for what you can become.

The birth process is paved with intense physical sensations and strong emotional and spiritual consciousness.

What is coming to help you grow may be painful. It may be hard. It may bring tears. It may bring desperation.

So find the courage to move up your level of tawakkul, let go and surrender to Al Musawwir, who would shape and polish your being to something beautiful and free.

Know that it is already in you. It is in your fitrah to keep on going despite many falls, just like when you were a baby who was a crawling being and you changed into a being who walks, runs and jumps. You gave space for yourself to grow.

So get in touch with that fitrah that is within you. Peel the masks and layers of doubt, fear and negative thinking. Be prepared for an experience that will help you be who you're meant to be.

We may have blamed. We may have dreaded. We may have put negativity on the experiences related to our uterus.

When our me**es, post-natal bleeding, pregnancies and the beautiful people who came out of our uterus take over our time and space instead of worship during Ramadan, we feel as if those are barriers from connecting with Allah.

But Allah did not create the uterus to distance Him from us.

It is the only organ that He has named after Himself, Ar Rahman - the compassionately and lovingly merciful.

If we truly know the value of our uterus (rahim) and whatever that Allah has caused to be related to it, we would see worshipping during Ramadan in another light.

How do we show up for Ramadan knowing that within us is a sign of His rahmah? How do we feel now, knowing that He never distanced us? How do we approach worshipping Him knowing the Most Merciful is always close to us?

Hate to break this to you... but there's no one movement that will open all parts of your pelvis at once. So this is how you move it 👇

The upper part of the pelvis opens bigger when our feet and knees are pointing outwards. Imagine the right points to 2pm and the left points to 10am on a clock.

Whether you sit on a birthball, stand, squat or be on all fours, if your baby is still high up, knees out and feet out.

But if baby is low, and you can feel the pressure on your va**na, and baby's on his way out, remember to have the distance of your knees closer than the distance of your feet. Whether you're on your side, sitting, squatting or on all fours, make sure to have your knees in and your pelvic outlet, will expand further.

Pushing can be hard but you can always make it easier when you work with your body and not against it.

1) Follow the urges!
Just as our body works instinctively well to sneeze a snot, cough a crumb and go to the bathroom, our body also has natural and instinctual urges to push our baby. We would feel pressure on our va**na at first but the urge gets stronger till it feels so good to push. Push with your contractions and rest in between.

2) Get to Gravity-Friendly Positions
Kneel, Sit, Stand, All-Fours, Side Position. Do whatever feels right and good. Be in a position that gives optimal space for your pelvis to expand and your sacrum to move out so that baby can come out easily.

3) Do not hold your breath
Holding your breath and counting up to 10 while pushing (valsalva pushing) is not recommended by WHO as well as many national health, OBGYN and midwifery associations. Valsalva pushing can cause trauma to your pelvic floor, decrease oxygen supply to your baby which would lead to non-reassuring fetal heart rate and perineal tears.

Sometimes, it's natural to hold one's breath while pushing. That is OK, because humans don't naturally and strictly hold their breath up to 10 counts!

4) Relax your jaws.
There is a link between your jaws and pelvic muscles. Relaxing your jaws helps to release pelvic tension to ease baby out.

5) Make low-pitched sounds.
Screaming and high-pitched sounds not only use up so much of your energy, but it would also increase pelvic tension. On the other hand, low-pitched sounds like moans, groans and grunts help to relieve pain and keep you relaxed. Don't be afraid to make noises. It's a natural way to "let go" when the body is hard at work.

6) Breathe down as you push.
This is opposite of valsalva pushing. Take a deep breath and as you exhale, imagine the air going through your body, into your uterus, to your baby and out of your va**na. Imagine pushing out a tampon if that helps!

7) Knees In, Feet Out (KIFO)
Whichever position you're in, KIFO will open your pelvic outlet.

Can't wait to hold your baby?
Getting tired of still being pregnant?
Don't want to go post due date?
Or you'd just want an easier birth?

Do you know that you can help baby descend further down your pelvis through making movements that help baby rotate and move down pre-natally and during labour?

Since your pelvis is not like a cylinder which goes straight down from top to bottom, there are different movements to make depending on whether baby is at the top (inlet), middle or bottom (outlet) of the pelvis. And it's more than just walking and squatting!

Find out what these movements are and how to push efficiently and effectively using the science behind the biomechanics of labour.

Work with your body and not against it!
Let’s prepare and welcome your precious one in the most gentlest way!

Ladies Only.

It's so easy to think what you'd like for your birth. But it's not so easy to work for it.

Sometimes, there are things that we want, there are things that we need, there are things that we know that are good for us, but we decided not to get them or receive them because we are holding onto false beliefs about ourselves.

These negative thoughts have made a home in us such that it becomes a belief that limits us from being the best version of ourselves.

We have entertained them in repeat mode that made us stuck and paralysed from achieving what we want.

If you want a natural, physiological and unmedicated birth, know that you can have it, inshaAllah.

If you want a c-section that would heal you, know that you can have it too, inshaAllah.

You can stack the cards to your corner. You are accountable for your efforts. But it is only Allah who will determine the outcome.

The only thing that is stopping you from moving towards that birth is yourself.

Our minds and hearts can move many heavy and difficult things. And with the help of the Turner of Hearts (Muqallibul quloob), everything difficult can be made easy, inshaAllah.

If you're ready to shift and find out the sweetness on the other side, start with one step now.

"Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is within their own selves" Surah Ar-Ra'd:11
