I wrote about my own take of doing Self care last year and was so happy to read this post from Paula Pant of Afford Anything .
I just love how she expounded on it and I am now currently writing blog post around it.
"That’s true self-care. It’s the hard work of being authentically you. "
Keep shining through your authenticity! Cheers!
“Self-care” is not pedicures and fancy facemasks. ⠀
⠀
It’s prioritizing your own time, refusing to let other people dictate your choices, and declining requests that impose undue stress on you. ⠀
⠀
It’s expressing your emotional and financial needs, even when you’re afraid that it might upset somebody else. ⠀
⠀
It’s demanding to be heard and acknowledged. ⠀
⠀
It’s leaving situations that are toxic. ⠀
⠀
It’s quitting jobs that are unfulfilling. ⠀
⠀
It’s declining a client or project so that you can make time go to the gym.⠀
⠀
It’s funding your retirement accounts so that you can take care of your future self.⠀
⠀
It’s refusing to get into consumer debt, even if that means that your friends tease you about your thrift store clothes or ancient be**er car.⠀
⠀
It’s traveling, or purposely choosing not to travel, regardless of the judgments that others make. ⠀
⠀
It’s realizing that whenever anybody posts a comment about you in which they say “SMH,” they’re really talking about themselves, not you. Because who are they to judge? ⠀
⠀
It’s putting your own happiness ahead of your fear about other peoples reactions.⠀
⠀
It’s forcing the rest of your life to get scheduled in such a way that, no matter how hectic things are, you can still spend 10 minutes a day journaling, praying or meditating.⠀
⠀
It’s saying no to what society expects of you so that you can live a life that is more authentic and true to yourself. ⠀
⠀
It’s listening to your inner calling. ⠀
⠀
That’s true self-care. It’s the hard work of being authentically you.⠀
