"Located in the eastern side of IOR Park, we surveyed and revealed an area with an edge over the rest, offering both a variety of important plant species and the potential for a community garden. Interviews only consolidated our belief and determination, as pedestrian responded with both enthusiasm and curiosity when we revealed our intentions for the area.
We propose a different kind of garden, one which analyses the ecosystem and then adapts according to its needs, so that both parties augment each other to increase crop yields and biodiversity. By planting trees adjacent to the existing vegetation and inserting other beneficial crops, we aim to nurture and respect the land so that it will reward the community with prosperity and a beautiful place in which to ponder and relax.
As the principles of Permaculture have taught us, beauty can coexist with sustainability and productivity and we hope to make people aware of this mutual relationship. In time, we look forward towards a community involved in the project, assuming it, protecting it and also popularising the importance and the benefits of a community garden."
