People throw around the phrase “survival mode” a lot.
Most of the time it’s actually something very simple. The body got used to staying alert.
Not once in a while.
Not just after a bad day. More like the same reactions showing up again and again.
Your shoulders are tense most days.
A small comment can stay with you for hours.
Your system reacts fast before you even think about it.
Relaxing takes effort.
After a while it stops feeling like stress.
It just feels like you.
And so many people assume this is their personality.
Often it’s simply a nervous system that spent a long time adapting to tension or unpredictability.
When the same reactions repeat for years, the body keeps running the same program.
Nothing is wrong with you.
Is just that the body remembers the environments it had to adapt to.
Does this feel familiar?
