Most of the suffering doesn’t come from the feeling itself.

It comes from what happens right after you notice it.

You feel it again and, without choosing it, you expect it to be less.
When it isn’t, you get disappointed.
You get annoyed with yourself.
You start pushing the feeling away.

From there, all your attention goes to it.
You think about it more.
You check it more.
You get tired of yourself for still having it.

That’s the part that adds weight.

The shift is simple, but not easy.

Notice the expectation when it appears.
Stop expecting the feeling to be different in that moment.

You don’t have to like the feeling.
You don’t have to agree with it.
You just stop fighting the fact that it’s here.

When the demand drops, the tension around it drops too.
And that gives the system space again.

Today I turn 47.

I’ve learned that most problems don’t get smaller.
They feel big when they’re all we can see.

I often use this image.
A chair in a tiny room feels overwhelming.
It takes up everything.

Move the same chair into a bigger room
and suddenly there’s air around it.

Nothing about the chair changed.
Only the space did.

That’s what time and distance can offer.
Not fewer problems.
Just room to breathe.

We start Wednesday.
This training is about learning how to listen to your breath. How to work with the nervous system. How to recognize activation and know when it helps, and when it doesn’t. How to stay with the body, instead of pushing it.

Your body doesn’t care about context.
It can be the safest person in the world, the gentlest touch and your nervous system still jumps to threat. Because trauma isn’t stored in your thoughts. It’s coded into how your body responds before your brain even registers what’s happening.

This is what dysregulation looks like in real life. Not a flashback or a panic attack. Just a shoulder tap that feels like danger when nothing is wrongt
