PROGRAM OUTLINE
The Saudi Board in Restorative Dentistry [SBARD] is the backbone of all Scientific Dental Board Programs, as the major podium adopted by the Scientific Dental Board Committee overseen by the Saudi Commision for Health Specialities [SCHS] for all recoginized full-time dental programs. Its inauguration coincides with the unfortunate present status of patients in Saudi Arabia; the population is exhibiting a higher caries incidence than ever before which necessitates professionals who can deliver high standard compound dental therapy, and control disease. SBARD’s objective was to provide an intricate didactic, clinical and hospital training to upgrade the level of dental profession in Saudi Arabia. The experience provided will prepare residents to be highly qualified Restorative dentists who are capable to diagnose and elaborate multifaceted treatment plans in treating complex restorative cases in the three disciplines; Restorative, Endodontics and Fixed Prosthodontics. OBJECTIVES
The SBARD Restorative Program strives to train and graduate experienced, knowledgeable and competent specialists in Restorative Dentistry (operative dentistry, endodontics and fixed prosthodontics) capable of functioning independently to provide an educational setting that promotes a high standard of health care delivery. The SBARD Restorative program prepares residents to:
1. Examine, diagnose, plan and provide both routine and complex restorative dental care for an eclectic variety of patients by applying innovative knowledge and clinical skills.
2. Acquire competence and confidence in various restorative clinical disciplines (operative dentistry, endodontics, fixed prosthodontics and implantology) that are integral components in complex dental management.
3. Reinforce the ability to make crucial judgments regarding; diagnosis, treatment planning, and assessment of treatment outcomes.
4. Keep abreast with the modern technology in dentistry and practice management.
5. Communicate interact and function effectively with other health care professionals as an integral part of an organizational system.
6. Acquire experience in teaching and research to upgrade the clinical knowledge.
