BOSS Basic Operative Surgical Skills Course Basic Operative Surgical Skills (BOSS) is a well structures & workshop which was started in 1999, developed and matured over the years. A.

It is designed for trainees in all fields of surgery with the exception of ophthalmology. It is meant to ensure that the trainee learns and attain the proper, safe technique under direct supervision of expert trainers. The practical part of the course covers more than 80% of the time to insure that the trainee have an ample time to develop the required skill. It is highly recommended that this course is completed during R, and R2 levels for trainees in the surgical and Obstetric Gynecology Programs. At the moment the course is held in several regions in the K.S.A namely (Riyadh, Taif, Jeddah and Tabuk) each course include. Considerable hands on practical experience
B. Course manual, instruments, and DVD
D. High tutor – candidate ratio 1-2 or 1-3 maximum
E. Performance assessment and feedback to identify the point of weakness and strengthen them. The contents of the course is not the only way to perform the procedure but surely it is one safe way to the task. High skill can only be obtained by practice & repetition. The BOSS can surely put the trainee on the 1ST step for that.
