The Care of Toothbrushes and Health

Proper toothbrush care is essential for maintaining good oral and overall health. A poorly maintained toothbrush can become a reservoir for bacteria, fungi, and even viruses.

Why is it important?
The toothbrush comes into direct contact with the mouth, which contains millions of microorganisms.
Moisture promotes bacterial growth.
A contaminated toothbrush can contribute to gingivitis, cavities, oral infections, and reinfections after colds or sore throats.

Key recommendations
Rinse it thoroughly with running water after each use to remove toothpaste and saliva.
Let it air-dry, stored upright. Avoid covering it or keeping it damp.
Do not share your toothbrush.
Replace it every 3 months, or sooner if the bristles are worn or deformed.
Replace it after an illness (flu, throat infection, COVID, etc.).
Keep toothbrushes separated if several people share the same bathroom.

Common mistakes
Storing it in closed cases without ventilation.
Leaving it near the toilet without protection.
Using it longer than recommended.

Remember
Good oral hygiene not only protects your teeth and gums but also contributes to cardiovascular health, digestion, and overall well-being.

Ma********on does not reduce testosterone for several clear reasons supported by scientific evidence:

Testosterone is produced continuously
This hormone is produced mainly in the testicles, and its regulation depends on the brain (the hypothalamic–pituitary–testicular axis), not on occasional sexual activity.

Ej*******on does not “use up” testosterone
Semen does not contain significant amounts of testosterone. Ej*******ng does not mean losing this hormone.

Studies do not show real decreases
Scientific research shows that ma********on does not cause a sustained decrease in testosterone levels. There may be small, temporary variations, but levels quickly return to normal.

There may even be a slight temporary increase
Sexual stimulation can produce a brief rise in testosterone, which is neither harmful nor clinically significant.

Factors that do lower testosterone
What truly affects this hormone includes:
- Lack of sleep
- Chronic stress
- Poor diet
- Obesity
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Sedentary lifestyle

Ma********on is a normal activity and does not reduce testosterone or affect masculinity, strength, or hormonal health.

At Victoria Health Clinic, we offer the convenience of having your testosterone levels tested quickly and reliably.

23/01/2026

The possible proliferation of flying insects such as mosquitoes, capable of producing bites on our skin, is the cause of different diseases in our bodies.

Mosquito bites are itchy bumps that form on the skin after the mosquito feeds on your blood. The bumps usually disappear without treatment in a few days. Some mosquito bites can cause significant swelling, irritation, and inflammation. This type of reaction, sometimes known as “skeeter syndrome,” is more common in children.
Mosquito bites can cause serious diseases if the insects carry certain viruses or parasites, depending on the geographic area.
Infected mosquitoes can transmit:
• Chikungunya fever
• Dengue fever
• Eastern and Western equine encephalitis
• Japanese encephalitis
• La Crosse encephalitis
• Malaria
• St. Louis encephalitis
• West Nile virus
• Yellow fever
• Zika virus

What are the signs and symptoms of mosquito borne diseases?

Signs and symptoms vary depending on which disease is involved. Most people only present mild symptoms after being bitten by an infected mosquito.
Signs and symptoms include:
• Fever
• Headache
• Neck pain
• Muscle pain
• Joint pain
• Skin rash
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea

Rarely, mosquito-borne diseases can cause serious problems such as encephalitis (inflammation of the brain).

How can we protect ourselves?

Avoid and repel mosquitoes
• Keep doors and windows without screens closed during early morning and evening hours.
• Wear light-colored clothing.

Use insect repellent

Choosing and using the repellent correctly is very important, and it must contain at least one of the following active ingredients:
• DEET
• Icaridin (picaridin)
• Lemon eucalyptus oil
• IR3535
• Para-menthane-diol (PMD)
• 2-undecanone

DEET can offer long-lasting protection. If you use a spray repellent, apply it outdoors and away from food. If you are also using sunscreen, apply the sunscreen first, about 20 minutes before applying the repellent. It is advisable to wash your hands after applying it.

When used according to the package instructions, these products are generally safe for children and adults, with some exceptions:
• Do not use products containing DEET on babies younger than 2 months.
• Do not use icaridin on babies younger than 6 months.
• Check labels on products with lemon eucalyptus oil, as some are not suitable for children under 3 years old.
• Do not use para menthane diol on children under 3 years old.
• Avoid getting insect repellent on young children’s hands, as they may put them in their mouths.
• Do not apply repellent near the eyes and mouth.
• Do not apply repellent under clothing.
• Do not apply repellent to sunburns, cuts, wounds, or rashes.
• When there is no longer a risk of mosquito bites, wash the skin with soap and water to remove the repellent.

Reduce the number of mosquitoes in your home

Eliminate standing water, which is necessary for mosquitoes to breed. To keep your home and yard mosquito-free, do the following:
• Clean roof gutters.
• Empty children’s pools at least once a week, or more frequently if possible.
• Change birdbath water at least once a week.
• Remove old tires from your yard.
• Frequently empty outdoor plant pots or store them upside down so they can not collect water.

Taking care of ourselves and others always depends on having proper and accurate information and always with the support of Victoria Health Clinic.

The best prevention is to avoid mosquito bites.
