This could save you when you next spend time with your family🙃

Family holidays are beautiful. They’re also a masterclass in sensory overload, overstimulation, and testing your patience. Instead of letting the tension build until I snap, I take myself away for 10 minutes and do this:

🌀Deep breathing activates your parasympathetic nervous system, your body’s built in calm down mode. It lowers cortisol, slows your heart rate, and tells your brain you’re safe.
🌀Somatic movement (like shaking/jumping) releases the stress your body is physically holding onto like the the tight jaw, the tense shoulders, the knot in your stomach.

Your body keeps the score. If you don’t give it a way to release, that tension doesn’t just disappear, it shows up as irritability, poor sleep, and digestive issues.

10 minutes of breathwork and movement is regulation. And it’s the reason I actually enjoy family holidays now!

We’ll be exploring lots of somatic movement on my next Gut Health Yoga Retreat
