Breaking the cycle. What does that mean?
It means breaking away from social norms that we have been conditioned to believe and think since the Dawn of time. It means breaking a chain of ancestral patterns, behaviours, thoughts and beliefs that have been passed down generations in our bloodlines.
Right now we are in very dark times. Brutality and war, opposing sides, views and beliefs that we have told ourselves. That we are entitled to things, that subjugation if entire communities and people who involved in conflict.
These behavioural patterns get passed down to the next generation and so on ans so forth, unless we are willing to do the work and change things. This can even be patterns our families have passed down. Epigentics are still very young in understanding of how they work? How we are full of genetic imprints from our parents and grandparents etc etc. How those in our family who have been through huge trauma eg war, r**e, famine- these things alter our DNA and change our genes. These can be how our brain functions in certain situations, how we react to things, how we pass on behaviours such as violence and alcoholism, to verbal abuse or the outcome of PTSD onto our children and children’s children.
This is a huge time in the history of the world where we are becoming more conscious and aware of our actions, governments actions and our behaviours.
We can break the cycles but we need to be willing to dig deep, to get therapy, to leave toxic situations, to better ourselves and the planet.
Breaking this chain in Yoga is called Samskaras. They are grooves that we create with behavioural patterns. This is created via Karma, and Karma can be created in the present moment by changing ourselves and our today’s actions for tomorrow and the future.
This makes us more compassionate and empathetic towards others.
This is the only way to achieve peace on Earth, is through love and compassion.
