GWP is an official delivery partner for countries aiming to access funding through the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Programme.
In this series, we’re exploring progress in some of the countries we work with.
The AU AIP Multi-Country Readiness Project, Global Water Partnership Southern Africa, on behalf of the African Union Commission and financed by the GCF, supports Caisse des Dépôts et de Consignations (CDC), Tunisia’s leading public financial institution, in its accreditation process with GCF.
In February, two back-to-back events were convened:
💧 A capacity-building workshop (2–4 February 2026): Designed to strengthen CDC staff capacity on GCF procedures and investment criteria. Particular emphasis was placed on analysing Tunisia’s , identifying areas where CDC can contribute to addressing them, and building a robust, science-based climate rationale.
Ahead of the event, 12 project ideas were submitted by participating institutions and assessed against both GCF and CDC investment criteria. Participants shortlisted two project concepts, which they assessed against key GCF requirements. The group also discussed recommendations to strengthen and refine the concepts.
💧 A Multi-stakeholder consultation workshop (5 February 2026) to build CDC’s climate project pipeline: This workshop brought together representatives from key institutions, including the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Tourism, the water utility, the electricity utility, and the national waste management agency.
