A chance for us to introduce our awesome team of medics with a quick Q and A! First up, the wonderful Dr Hannah Schneiders.
What’s your professional background?
I am a GP with experience working in both GP surgeries and the Emergency department.
Where has expedition medicine taken you?
Peru, Namibia, Kyrgyzstan.
What has been your most memorable moment from a deployment or expedition so far?
There have been far too many to choose from!
-Watching the sunset in the desert with my team in Namibia.
-Playing monopoly deal with the runners and getting sand stuck to all the cards.
-A night hike to a high altitude wild camp spot in the tian shen mountains (type 2 fun).
What advise would you give to an aspiring expedition medic?
Upgrade your outdoor skills - navigation, hill skills, campcraft, whatever outdoor sports you like. It will help your confidence and maximise what you can bring to an expedition.
