Smart Eye's Annual Report 2025 was just published.

Looking back, 2025 was a year of tangible progress on the automotive side. Production volumes accelerated, more OEM programs reached the road, and the financials started reflecting that momentum.

Here are a few highlights worth noting:

➤ 4 million cars on the road: cars with Smart Eye technology more than doubled during the year, surpassing 4 million shortly after year-end.

➤ 125 car models in production: up from 75 at the start of 2025, a 67% increase in a single year, reflecting the full-scale OEM rollout kicking in.

➤ Positive full-year EBITDA: SEK 4.9M vs. –82.3M the year before. The company turned EBITDA-positive already in Q2 and held it through year-end.

One of the things we're most looking forward to showing at next week: live face and iris authentication from a single camera. 👁️🔐

Smart Eye and FPC have combined facial with iris recognition in a system that verifies identity using two biometric signals simultaneously.

No interaction required from the user, authentication active throughout the session, at distances up to three meters.

The false match probability gets down to approximately 1 in 1,000,000,000. But what's more interesting to see in person is how natural the experience is – the user doesn't do anything differently.

Come by our booth in Beijing to see it running.

Performance data tells you what a trainee did. Eye tracking tells you why — or why not. 👁️

Evidence-based training needs evidence. So, for operators in safety-critical environments, that distinction matters. A correct response doesn't always mean solid situational awareness. A missed warning isn't always inattention.

Smart Eye has put together a downloadable guide on using in professional operator training — , , rail, , and multi-screen simulator environments. The practical stuff: hardware setup, what data instructors actually get, and how it fits with existing platforms.

If you're trying to read the market from the outside, the numbers most readily available to you aren't always the most informative.

In , getting from a promising technology to a system that reliably deploys in real vehicles involves a lot that doesn't show up in financial reports or benchmark tables — at least not straight away.

Think: system engineering, data infrastructure at scale, camera and illumination design, supplier relationships, validation pipelines.

These are the capabilities that determine whether a company can actually deploy, and they can be largely invisible in the metrics most commonly used to evaluate players in this space.

How do you score situational awareness in a simulator? Or workload management?

These are real competencies, but traditional systems don't give you much to measure them against.

Eye tracking, on the other hand, does. Fixation duration, scan path sequences, pupil dilation, the ratio of attention on high-priority versus peripheral areas — each maps to a specific cognitive skill.

Synchronized with simulator events, they become repeatable, comparable metrics rather than instructor impressions.

That's what makes a natural fit for competency-based training and assessment ( ): it turns perception into evidence.

Smart Eye is heading to ! 🇨🇳

This year, the focus is on technology that's ready to integrate today.

Visitors can explore real-world use cases across , , and biometric , including the first live demonstration of the combined face-and-iris authentication capability developed with FPC.

We'll have a dedicated booth in Beijing from April 24, open for private demonstrations and meetings with automotive customers and partners.

If you're planning your schedule, get in touch to book a time slot.

Drug impairment detection is getting its first real foothold in law enforcement.

Smart Eye has signed a multi-year agreement with a European police authority to deploy the technology in the field, marking its first operational use in this setting.

The system, based on Sightic’s technology, enables real-time, non-invasive screening using eye behavior — supporting faster, more informed decisions when it matters.

The agreement is valued at SEK 40 million over four years.

What happens when you combine two of the most reliable biometric signals — face and iris — in a single system? 👁️🔐

You get identity verification that’s dramatically harder to spoof, without adding friction for the user.

Smart Eye and FPC are now demonstrating a multi-modal capability that combines facial authentication with iris recognition captured by the same camera.

Together, the two signals enable identity verification that can reach probabilities of false match as low as one in a billion, while still working naturally at distances of up to three meters.

This kind of seamless authentication opens up interesting possibilities across , , law enforcement, and other access-controlled settings.

We’ll be demonstrating the combined capability live at .

Successful collaborations tend to grow over time. 📈

A European truck manufacturer is extending its use of Smart Eye’s Driver Monitoring System ( ) software to two additional truck models, after previously integrating the technology across several vehicle programs.

The new models are planned to enter production in 2028.

ADDW. DDAW. GSR. Euro NCAP. ⚖️

If you follow in-cabin safety in Europe right now, there’s a lot of overlapping terminology.

And with Advanced Driver Distraction Warning ( ) systems becoming mandatory for all new cars sold in the EU from July 2026 (just four months away!), understanding how these requirements actually work is becoming more relevant by the month.

We’ve created a structured guide that breaks down:

• What ADDW and DDAW systems are expected to detect
• How requirements differ from scoring
• When the rules apply to new types vs. all new vehicles
• What the regulation means in practice

Integrating new tech into a simulator can sound like a disruptive process. You might be picturing new hardware, new workflows, weeks of rework. 👁️

But integrating data doesn’t have to mean rebuilding what already works.

Today’s systems are built to plug into existing simulator setups, syncing gaze data with simulator events and feeding attention insights into the debrief tools instructors already use.

The payoff is a better understanding of how trainees manage attention and workload, without turning the simulator upside down.

In this blog, we look at what makes integrations work in , , and simulators, and why the hardest part is rarely technical.
