New data: Are we treating reflux the wrong way?
A new analysis of 18,629 users shows that a clear majority of people with reflux and heartburn improve through neuromuscular training.
Across different ages, lifestyles, and symptom profiles. What stands out is not just that people improve, but how:
• 48% see improvement within less than 1–2 months
• 75% within 1–5 months
• 82% within 6–8 months
And for many, symptoms don’t just ease. Function improves.
This raises an important question. Is reflux really a problem of too much stomach acid? Or is it, in many cases, a problem of function?
When the muscles around the diaphragm and lower oesophageal sphincter are not working optimally, acid can move upwards.
Treating that with acid suppression may relieve symptoms, but not always address the cause.
What this data suggests is a shift in perspective:
From managing symptoms to improving function
This is not a quick fix. But it may be a more sustainable one.
Research on neuromuscular training also shows that up to 97% improve, supporting the same functional approach.
