Danco Anodizing is Promimic's preferred processing partner for the USA and China medical implant markets. As part of its continued investment in and commitment to our technology and customers, Danco has just increased its HAnano Surface production line, doubling their square footage and capacity. This expansion will allow our combined efforts to better serve existing and future customers, as more implants with HAnano Surface are launched across multiple orthopedic market segments in 2021 and beyond.

Promimic’s super hydrophilic HAnano Surface® has proven faster osseointegration in over 30 pre-clinical studies.

The bio-mimetic hydroxyapatite nano crystals have high surface energy and super hydrophilic properties, which dramatically improve the adsorption of blood and extracellular fluids onto the implant surface. This promotes an osteoconductive integration process with faster and more direct bone on-growth to the implant.

A recent in vivo study, published in Long Term Effect of Medical Implants, showed that the HAnano Surface improved bone-to-implant contact by 50% after just 3 weeks of healing. This is further evidence that the HAnano Surface boosts initial implant integration and is the foundation of osteoconductive healing.

HAnano Surface® introduces a new size regime for implant coatings. The nano-thin surface enables newly formed bone to grow directly into the micrometer topography, or roughness, of the implant surface, thus providing mechanical stability.

With the particle-based HAnano Surface, there is no risk of cracking or delamination of the implant. Compared to traditional coatings, where bone anchors to the coating, HAnano Surface does not act as an interface separating bone from the implant. Modification of an implant with HAnano Surface does not change the dimensions of the implant so there is no need to alter existing instruments or techniques.

Whether bone is compromised or healthy, HAnano Surface continues to prove superior osseointegration over unmodified implants. A recent in vivo study showed that HAnano Surface outperformed titanium implants in both diabetic and healthy bone. In fact, the results at both 7 and 30 days display that the bone-to-implant contact is up to 93% greater for HAnano Surface compared to unmodified implants.

The study was done in collaboration with S.I.N. Implant System and the University of São Paulo. https://lnkd.in/dvQNaBA

In a newly published study, HAnano Surface modified implants outperformed machined and double acid etched titanium implants.

"The study showed the benefits of nano-hydroxyapatite modified implants in promoting new bone formation in diabetic animals, when compared to machined and double acid etched surfaces. Diabetic subjects have compromised bone repair ability, which may negatively impact osseointegration around implants," said Dr. Sergio Scombatti de Souza.

Diabetic patients suffer from compromised bone due to chronic hyperglycemia which can cause severe damage to bone biology. These patients are at a much greater risk of implant loosening or failure over healthy individuals due to delayed bone formation and sub-optimal bone-to-implant contact.

A new study showed that HAnano Surface modified implants outperformed machined and double acid etched implants in both normal and compromised bone. The study also found that HAnano Surface is less affected by the adverse conditions within diabetic bone and enhanced osteoblast proliferation was found during early stages of osseointegration.
