Our intention is for EVERYONE and anyone interested in Sacred Birth - wisdom, knowledge, and practice - to join the conversation 🗣️

As we’ve shared before, Maha’s work has touched us, & , deeply and we wanted to bring her to our women in Sydney! So, as we prepare to host the phenomenal EmbodyBirth 2-day Foundational Workshop, we wanted to invite you to meet her as well.

ABOUT Maha Al Musa: she is a dedicated mother of three, a doula, birth mentor, international educator, and the founder of EmbodyBirth™ and BellydanceBirth® since 1997.

Maha has created two award-winning resources: the pioneering book “Dance of the Womb” on Bellydance for birth, endorsed by Sheila Kitzinger, Dr. Michel Odent, Dr. Sarah Buckley, and NACE (Australia), and a follow-up video series that won the About.com Readers’ Choice Award for Best Pregnancy Fitness Product. In 2011, she received the One World Birth Hero National Award.

She’s been a keynote speaker at numerous birth conferences around the world, including China, India, and in the USA. And also offers an exceptional online pregnancy and birth preparation program, as well as the highly acclaimed EmbodyBirth™ online educator training certification.

All of Maha’s teachings are grounded in the universal truth that birth is a sacred portal with the potential to elevate human consciousness. She believes that every woman and baby has the right to choose and deserves to be supported and born into the hands and arms of Love.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is the variation in the time intervals between heartbeats. It’s an important measure of autonomic nervous system function, reflecting the balance between the sympathetic (activation) & parasympathetic (resting) nervous systems.

HRV is significant in the context of Breathwork because it indicates the body’s ability to adapt to stress & maintain RESILIENCE.

Boost Your Longevity with Better Breathing! 🫁

Did you know that lung capacity is a strong predictor of overall health and longevity? Research shows that our lung function typically peaks around age 30 and then declines, affecting our wellbeing and lifespan. 🌬️

THE GREAT NEWS IS WE CAN BETTER OUR LUNG CAPACITY 🥳

Top Tips to Improve Lung Capacity:

1. DIAPHRAGMATIC Breathing: Lie on your back, place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. Breathe in through your nose, focusing on expanding your abdomen as you inhale, and contracting it as you exhale.
Additional tip - exhaling through pursed lips will help you prolong your exhalation, which in turn creates space for a larger inhalation to follow…🫁

2. PURSED-LIPS Breathing: Inhale through your nose for 2 counts, exhale through pursed lips for 4 counts. This releases trapped /stagnant air in the lungs and promotes relaxation by tapping into a parasympathetic-dominant state… 😌

3. BOX / SQUARE Breathing: Inhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold your breath for 4 counts, exhale through your mouth for 4 counts, and hold again for 4 counts. Then repeat…🟩

Perform each exercise for at least 5 minutes 🖐️
