Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick and fibrous band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot that connects the heel bone to the toes. Its purpose is to support the muscles and arch of the foot, as well as absorb shock as we walk.

When the plantar fascia becomes overloaded or overstretched, small tears develop in the fibres, especially where the fascia connects to the heel bone.

Symptoms to Look Out For:

The pain is much worse when you take your first steps in the morning.

The pain is lessened during movement and exercise, but worsens again after rest or long periods of standing.

You realise you start shifting your weight toward the front of the foot, preferring to walk on your toes.

👉Try this to stretch the affected area properly and strengthen supporting muscles.

We explored different range of motion (ROM) through asana practice in today’s session. The passive, active and active assist range of motions.

It was a slow moving session and the feedback from our participants was:-

➡️ Slow moving sessions are even more challenging.

➡️ so happy to explore this deeper awareness through Asana practice

➡️ took multiple pauses in between as it was difficult to complete all the reps.

➡️ experienced different range of motion in sukhasana at the start of the class and at the end of the class.

Does living life feel like a boring routine?

Life feels like a boring routine when mind is living each moment with a residue of past habit patterns. Responding to similar situations with familiar responses.

Imagine if each moment is lived with a sense of exploration, with a sense of breaking free from old habit patterns, won’t life feel like an adventure?

Dhāraṇā , the sixth limb described by Sage Patanjali, is concentrating the mind on a specific intent. The mind has be trained and purified through various yogic practices so that it can remain absorbed in the state of dhāraṇā with specific intent.

Yogic way of living life, helps us to understand ourself, the way mind functions and brings deeper clarity towards intentional living.

Living life with a sense of exploring possibilities infuses life with freshness, routine is met with a sense of refinement and boredom doesn’t bog you down.

Did you know that there are more than 600 muscles in the human body? All these muscles work together to enable the full functioning of the body. From heartbeat and breathing to running, jumping, stretching and balancing.

The three main types of muscle:- skeletal, smooth and cardiac work in perfect harmony with the brain, nerves and skeletal muscles to cause every movement.

Every muscle in the body has the right to remain strong and function optimally irrespective of age, stress and lifestyle. Yogic science believes in nuturing the physical sheath, the gross body through proper asana practice. This gross body (the annamaya kosha) when nutured carefully helps maintain muscular strength and suppleness.

Just think of a time when the body was experiencing pain or discomfort. A headache, sprain or backache etc, how did this impact our state of mind?

Our bodies adapt to whatever we train it for. Limited seats available for Saturday,10am. Pm for details

This year we celebrated International Women’s day by having an outdoor Yoga by the Beach donation based event. It was different for multiple reasons:)

🔸We had men joining to show their support towards women and the cause women choose to support. ( so awesome, right 😃)

🔸We had a young girl (primary 1) joining us and completing the yoga sequence till the end. ( 👏👏👏👏)

🔸In spite of the current pandemic circumstances the event went smoothly:)

Thank you Sheetal, Asmita and Big at Heart foundation, Thank You to each and everyone of you for your beautiful presence and support towards the cause 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻
