T-Rex wrist 🦖
This is a very common issue among our patients especially when they wake up in the morning.
A bent wrist for a long period of sleeping time narrows down the carpal tunnel which restricts the nerve flow as it is compressing on the median nerve. Awkward wrist angles build ups the pressure, fluid and leads to numbness and stiffness in the morning. Repetitive wrist bent position can lead to conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis.
In order to prevent this you can:
Do some arm and wrist stretches before going to bed
Sleeping on the back instead of side sleeping
Wearing a wrist guard when sleeping on sides
