Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) can sometimes have roots in thoracic nerve dysfunction or underlying chest disease.
Possible Thoracic-Related Causes of Excessive Sweating:
- Primary Hyperhidrosis: Overactivity of chest sympathetic nerves leading to sweaty palms, face, or underarms.
- Lung Infections: Tuberculosis and severe pneumonia can trigger night sweats and systemic symptoms.
- Mediastinal Tumors: Growths in the central chest area may compress nerves, affecting sweat regulation.
- Thoracic Nerve Compression: Pressure on sympathetic nerves from trauma or tumors can disrupt normal sweating patterns.
- Autonomic Dysfunction: Disruption of the nervous system controlling sweat glands.
