How do you do it?
I do get asked this question a lot and to be honest I don’t know the answer but my usual answer is I genuinely love kids and they are not mine 🥰 😂🥰 As I ponder on this, I guess my answer kind of sums it all and I can’t think of a better answer.

When I teach and when I am with kids;

I am completely PRESENT, I am completely free of time and space. That’s why I am not tired but rejuvenated. It explains why my classes always overrun.

I am completely TRUTHFUL because children don’t lie and I shouldn’t. I apologise if I make a mistake, I said I don’t know when I don’t know and I admit I am not that great and it is so fun when we try together, fail together and be successful together. That’s me striping my ego layer by layer and it feels good.

I am just CONTENTED because children reminds me that life is not that complicated and simple things in life matter. You will be surprise how little it takes to make and keep a child happy.

MY CURIOUS MIND WONDER. I am always awed by how smart, how kind, how compassionate, how loving and the how list is endless. I sometimes wonder what am I supposed to teach, they already know. So I just share the little I know and provide a space for them to be their extremely amazing self.

I guess somewhere here is when ‘they are not mine’ comes into play. I do have challenging kids, kids who thinks yoga is boring, kids who just love to talk to me or not, kids who just can’t sit still and the list goes on. No matter how long is the list, I have never walked away defeated or excited…

I am just me,
They are just being them,
Both the pleasant and unpleasant emotions are just emotions,
There is no need to be attached or judged,
They too shall pass,
We all let it be and let it go,
We just enjoy the practice.

I guess the video sums it all. I cried when I received the video. I love all my children and will do anything to see them smile, be happy and be courageous to explore our wonderful world - Teacher Yvonne
