Lunar New Year: A Season of Momentum and Gratitude 🏮🏮

As we step into the vibrant celebrations of the Lunar New Year, I want to take a moment to look back with immense gratitude.

To my clients, partners and the Singapore community: thank you. Your trust and continuous support. Seeing you step into a confident grow while honouring your authenticity is the greatest reward of this work.

Since I moved to Singapore in 2002, I have always been fascinated by the rich rituals, the deep traditions and the powerful family bonds that define this time of year.

Regardless of which zodiac sign we are celebrating, my favourite part is the transformation of the city, the glowing lanterns and the vibrant decorations that light up the night. 🏮 Without forgetting, of course, the seasonal delicacies! I have to admit, the pineapple cookies remain a personal favourite of mine. 🍍✨

What makes the Year of the Horse special?
In the Lunar calendar, 2026 is the year of the Fire Horse. It is a year characterised by extraordinary momentum, independence and breakthrough.

The Horse brings the strength to gallop toward our goals, but the "Fire" element adds a layer of passion and rapid transformation. This year is unique because it challenges us to balance unbridled ambition with strategic direction. It reminds us that even the swiftest horse needs a clear path and a steady hand to lead.

It is the perfect year to:
🏮 Take Bold Action: Use the year's high energy to support big leaps.
🏮 Prioritise Sustainability: Even the strongest engine needs rest to win the race.
🏮 Strengthen Bonds: Just like the family reunions this season, lean into the community that supports your growth.

A profile picture is no longer just a photo.
Over the last decade, it has quietly become our digital "logo."
On LinkedIn, WhatsApp or a resume, it is the first signal of presence, credibility and intention. It speaks before we even say a word.

In a world mediated by screens, emotion and human touch matter more than ever. But here is the truth: a professional picture isn’t about perfection. It is about authenticity, energy, and alignment with who you are today.

We have entered an era where it is tempting to use AI to generate "flawless" versions of ourselves. For me, this update was a conscious choice in the opposite direction.

This is not an AI-generated image. I decided to skip the filters and the algorithms. Instead, I took the time to visit a professional photographer. I had been meaning to do this for a long time, but like many of us, I was always in motion. During the holidays, I finally chose to slow down and create the space.

Showing up well-rested made a difference, not just in the final image, but in how I felt during the session. Grounded. Present.
Identity evolves, and so does the way we choose to show up.
I am currently in the process of updating my photo across all my professional media to reflect this new chapter. For me, it's about staying human, grounded and authentic, even in a digital landscape.

Yesterday’s ICF Year End Party was such a fun and inspiring evening. It made me reflect on my coaching journey and how grateful I am to be part of this community.

Many think coaching is just a short course but an ICF credential requires serious commitment.��
✔ Training hours
�✔ 100 sessions for ACC
�✔ 500 sessions for PCC
�✔ 2,500 for MCC
�✔ A 3-4 hours performance exam�
✔ Ongoing education every 3 years�✔

And a strict Code of Ethics where confidentiality is non-negotiable��And it does not stop there.

Every three years, we renew our credential with continuous education to stay aligned with the latest developments in our industry and maintain high standards of practice.��

What I appreciate the most is the supportive and generous ICF community. Coaching is often a solo profession and meeting regularly keeps us connected, learning and growing together. Some colleagues have even become dear friends.�

This client first joined one of my wellbeing "Life & Career Transition" workshops, that’s where our journey began. From there, she chose to start her coaching journey, which helped her pivot to a wonderful new space in her life. I couldn’t be happier to witness her growth.

As coaches, we often tell clients that growth happens outside the comfort zone and sometimes, we need to walk the talk ourselves. For me, that’s been public speaking.

Last week, during our Diwali-themed Toastmasters meeting, I had the honour of stepping in as Acting President for the evening. Just a week earlier, I was the Toastmaster of the Evening for our “Magic Words” theme.

When I first joined Toastmasters, I was shy and unskilled speaking in front of a crowd. Even as a coach running one-to-one sessions and group workshops, this felt scary.

Standing there, welcoming guests and leading the evening, I realised how far I’ve come — and yes, I genuinely enjoyed myself!

This is what I love sharing through coaching: helping professionals build confidence, find their voice, and show up authentically.
