Throwback to Good Life Conference 2025. Here are the key takeaways of participants who attended 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑 𝟑: 𝑬𝒏𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑵𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔🌟

Participants shared positive feedback on how the workshop deepened their understanding of what it truly means to be ready-for-work. Instead of focusing solely on job-specific skills, the session explored how developing thinking and social capabilities can empower individuals with special needs to adapt and thrive in dynamic workplace

Our presenter, Dr Lucy Pou also introduced the evidence-based 𝑨𝑻@𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌 (𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒕 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌) programme based on the 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 (𝑴𝑳𝑷𝑭), which aims to build flexibility of mind and real-world problem-solving skills.

We had an inspiring session on 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑 2: 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 (𝑼𝑫𝑳) — a framework that transforms teaching and learning to be more inclusive, engaging, and barrier-free for all learners. Participants explored how UDL principles can remove barriers, support learner variability, and empower every learner to be purposeful, resourceful, and strategic. Many shared that the session deepened their understanding of how thoughtful design can make learning accessible to everyone.

We had a wonderful turnout for 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑 𝟏: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒆, 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑶𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅 (𝑮𝟐𝑮𝑶): 𝑼𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏 𝑬𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆-𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒏 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑩𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆! 🎉

Participants gained valuable insights into evidence-based approaches to encourage positive behaviours. Grace Orchard School shared the use of the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Framework, highlighting the importance of teaching behaviours explicitly and reinforcing them consistently. The workshop also explored how positive language and extrinsic motivation can gradually nurture intrinsic motivation. 🌱
