Sights and sounds of a forest during a bathing group experience

After yesterday’s heavy rain, today’s forest was slightly wet but pleasantly cooler. It was a delight to engage in a silent walk to allow the senses to truly engage under the guidance of Rachael Bah of Kaicari Impact Group. We focused on the visual scene before us, listened to the myriad of sounds, felt the moisture on leaves and smelled the air. It was a bonus to see some of the ruins in the forest of what was left of a Hainanese village. We reflected, pondered and went away. She reminded us during the walk that we didn’t have to be doing anything. We just had to be present. And it was healing.

Pictures of the final day of the movement workshop where the instructors had to come up with 5 pilates exercises which incorporated the concept of grounding taught in the previous 2 days. Just love the expressions on their faces as they focused on the feel while they performed a movement.

Integrated Human Movement and Postural Dynamics workshop for Hangzhou’s Pilates instructors in December amalgamating observational skills from Rolfing on gait/posture and PRI concepts on the diaphragm and pelvic floor. The upper and lower body is integrated by effective grounding starting from the feet and ways in which to hold onto this dynamic connection whilst performing pilates exercises.

Trying to show Roxanne how sporty I am (because I actually need recovery!), I sauntered to The Ice Bath Club at Duxton. Thanks for the discounted passes to Chiropractic Association sports committee members. Ok, this is not something I usually do. Have I been to an ice bath before ? Does the onsen in Japan count ?
I’m not usually a sauna person but I liked the heat of this one. After dunking myself around in various pools, at the end of it all, my body felt like it had gone through an actual workout. My blood sometimes raced, my limbs sometimes numbed momentarily and a few times I had to remind myself to take slow breaths. So without having run a race, I have exercised today lol.
Oh yes, the hairdryer is pretty good too. Recommend a visit.
