Occupational Therapy Department celebrated OT Day 2017 with an interactive exhibition at the Atrium to educate the public on how people with chronic diseases can actively self-manage the impacts of such diseases on their daily lives. Our OTs engaged the public through interactive booths such as “How to Talk to Your Health Professionals”, which provided simple tips on how to prepare for a session with a healthcare professional by voicing their concerns and asking relevant questions. Participants were also encouraged to set meaningful lifestyle goals to take charge of their own health at our Goal-Setting photo-booth. The event was also supported by AIC, HDB and Department of Continuing and Community Care who provided relevant community resources to support self-management in the community.

A pocket guide on Chronic Conditions Self-Management, a collaboration between SAOT, TTSH and NUH, was also launched on 19 January 2017 for Occupational Therapists working with clients with chronic conditions. The guide can be found at SAOT’s link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B30XtwoViLuCQmp2ZVRHVUxuUEE/view
