Out of clinic to learn from Dr Tina Chang, dermatologist from Taiwan, about neck rejuvenation. The vertical cords in the neck or turkey bands are a sign of aging due to constant pulling of the underlying platysmal muscle and overlying skin aging. One non-surgical modality for treating these neck wrinkles is with Botulinum toxin to relax these muscles. One of the brands has received US FDA and Singapore HSA approval for treatment of platysmal prominence, and this can be combined with other modality of treatments like lasers and biostimulators for neck rejuvenation. 2nd degree burn after Shurink HIFU treatment? This happened to K-pop star Kwon Mina from AOA after she underwent 600 shots of Shurink under sedation. The possible reasons for Kwon Mina’s facial burn burns include a defective device and high energy transmission from poor doctor techniques. Although HIFU burns may not present signs immediately, Mina being sedated, was not able to report any acute symptoms. Just a reminder not to take safety for granted during aesthetic treatments, especially when you’re under sedation. Also, it’s not always the more the merrier with shots and treatments because risks of side effects can occur!

The importance of skin prep for aesthetic treatments cannot be overstated, as the resilience of the skin barrier is essential for recovery and rebuilding collagen. In January 2026, I had the honour of working with for an educational workshop over 2 weeks to share about how skincare before and after procedures can accelerate healing and improve treatment results.
