We are delighted to share that Mr Gopal Mahey, Senior Counsellor and Psychotherapist has been selected as a Silent Heroes Finalist 2025 🌟

This honour is a reflection of the work we do together through the P.A.C.T. Programme (Pathways to Accountability, Change and Transformation) creating spaces for accountability, healing and second chances.

At C4P, we believe that no one is beyond change. This recognition belongs to all who have walked this journey with us clients, families and our community of support. 💙

SSH 2025 FINALIST 🌈 Ordinary people, extraordinary impact 🌈

🔁 Meet Gopal Mahey, 43 — Once Incarcerated, Now a Lifeline for Others 🔁

Gopal’s story is one of redemption, resilience, and radical compassion.

Once known as ""the drug counsellor who took drugs"", Gopal chose to confront his past, not hide from it. Today, he’s the lead psychotherapist behind P.A.C.T. — Singapore’s first pre-sentencing counselling programme for those facing prison.

Through the Centre for Psychotherapy, he has supported over 100 justice-involved individuals every year, many at their lowest points — battling addiction, trauma, and hopelessness. He writes to inmates, guides families, appears in court, and never gives up on those society often forgets.

His work goes beyond therapy. It’s about belief. He shows people they are not broken — just hurting, and still worthy of healing.

Featured in CNA and The Straits Times, Gopal’s impact is national. But his motivation is deeply personal: to be the person he once needed.

🧡 Gopal’s journey proves that those with the deepest scars can often lead the most powerful healing.

Your encouragement can go a long way—thank him with a like and help spread his story.

2,097 cases of shop theft.
807 cases of molestation.
252 cases of voyeurism.

All in just six months.

Each number represents a victim whose safety or dignity was taken away.
That harm matters and it must be honoured.

But we also need to ask: why are these offences happening?
• Many youths who shoplift are acting out of impulse, pressure and confusion about identity.
• Molestation or voyeurism often comes from secrecy, objectification and unhealthy coping.

None of this excuses the offence.
Victims deserve justice and healing.
But if we only punish offenders without addressing the roots of their behaviour, the risk remains.

At the Centre for Psychotherapy, we work with individuals before sentencing, helping them face themselves honestly, take responsibility and learn new ways of living.

⚖️ Justice honours those who were hurt.
🧠 Therapy prevents future harm.
