A lot of patients been asking when to drink liang teh(cooling herbal tea), liang teh(cooling herbal tea) is also considered as a medicine you shouldn't use them like health supplement, just like you don't take painkillers as sweets.

Let me share a few tips, what should you do if you feel heaty.
1. If you feel heaty and your whole tongue color is red almost like strawberry. You can try eat some water menon if it doesn't work. Move to 2.
2. Yes, you can try drinking liang teh (cooling herbal tea) if it doesn't help move to 3.
3. Consult a TCM Dr.
4. If your tongue is not red like strawberry try to drink enough water, means body weight x 30 (if you are 50kgs x 30 = 1,500ml). If it doesn't help go back to 3.
5. If only the tip of your tongue is red like strawberry, means you didn't get enough sleep go to sleep and drink enough water (how much is enough go back to 4). If it doesn't help go back to 3...hahahaha

Let's discuss about why do I stop my patients and friends to take cooling drinks at this period of time to prevent them for Covid. Many of them asked me but we have sore throat and fever when we have Covid why shouldn't we take cooling drinks like liang teh, coconut water etc.... let me explain in TCM point of view...

Our pores are like little windows of our body, it releases some heat in our body. When we catch a cold or had cold virus like Covid, in shock our body and out of a self protection all our pores will close up. It's like on a rainy day you closed all the windows and door in your room, you will feel the room become stuffy and hot. Heat will usually accumulate at our throat, the heat will dry up our throat and then cause inflammation, so we will have fever due to the inflammation.

Today would like to share my little tips for balancing Cholesterol and Omega 3, 6 and 9.
Usually I will prepare a glass container, fine chop 1 clove of garlic(but for thepicture I use 2 cloves), next I add in 50%of flaxseed oil,25% of grapes seed oil and 25% of olive oil. Keep it in the refrigerator overnight before use. Every morning I will take 1 tablespoon of oil mix with a bit of balsamic vinegar, 1/2 tomato and 2 slices of toast. For a change have put in some dry Italian herbs. For pure vegetarian who do not take garlic, you can consider using the oil combination with Italian herbs.

Was told by a patient when it's near Christmas it's time for Mulled Wine. However after she drink it she had a sore throat. 😅 She like it a lot so ask if I I have a solution for this. After looking at the ingredients a bottle of red wine 1 orange, sliced into rounds, 6 whole cloves,
3 cinnamon sticks, 3 star anise,1 nutmeg and approate amout of sugar boil them together. It is more suitable for cold weather to warm the body up. In Singapore I would suggest my new love mulberries, it will add a touch berry taste and also balance the heaty quality of the spices. Happy Holiday Ahead Everyone! ^_^

As mentioned year end is a time to nourish your body, so today I steam mulberry桑椹,longan桂圆, wolfberry枸杞, angelica/danggui当归and chicken drumstick. Mulberry was chosen this round because of it's more cooling quality, so it will balance the warm quality of the rest of the herbs.

A patient reminded me it have been a long time since my last post. Year end is away a time to nourish your body, stay away from all those liang teh (cooling herbal tea) even if you are in Singapore. Most of my patients know to me liang teh is equal to medicine, dun anyhow drink. Today I cook two dishes to nourish the body. Lees (酒糟or红糟)are the residues of Chinese wine during making, they are good for your digestive system, liver and kidney. Lees vegetarian meat and Lees chicken wings. Got the Lees from a friend years back. The steps are shred the ginger fry them with some oil till a bit golden brown, add in the Lees and water cook them in high heat just add sugar, salt and sesame oil for taste. For a person who dun cook often I will complete the taste of the sauce before I put in the vegetarian meat or chicken wings.

Yesterday a patient asked me why eating healthy doesn't prevent us from getting cancer cos her friend who have been eating very healthy found out she had cancer not too long ago. My reply is there are no grantee, as it depends on many factors, your DNA, the food you eat and also your emotions. You can't change your DNA the only thing you can do is balance your diet and your mind/emotions. For diet l follow a 7/1 standard, 7 healthy meals for the body and 1 meal for my mind could be healthy food or any unhealthy food. So both my mind and body will be happy. Of course I will also reserve quotas when I need the food to lift my mood or celebration. That is what I call a healthy eating habit.
