Forest with You Welcome to Forest With You, a space where heartful becomings are rooted in Nature. Some of you may know my work from Xiu Nature Connections/forestbathingsg.

This new chapter continues that journey and also creates space for new becomings. Previously known as 休 Xiu Nature Connections, or forestbathingsg. Since 2017, I have been pioneering forest therapy / forest bathing and nature-inspired rest experiences in Singapore. What began a s quiet walks for a few like-minded individuals in Singapore soon grew into something larger. My path unfolded and brought me on a journey of guiding thousands on forest therapy experiences (even across borders), training aspiring guides-to-be internationally and collaborating with communities, organisations and brands seeking a deeper and more meaningful way of becoming and connecting.

7 years' later, I have been feeling a call for a new chapter. This evolution called for a name that could hold both our roots and our new becomings. Forest with You carries the spirit and essence of 休 (xiū) - a natural partnership between Person and the Woods, grounded in ease. In the new emblem, this partnership is embraced within a simple doorway that opens to unfolding journeys and becomings, for all. Its lines echo the bark of trees, etched in its own time and natural rhythms, whispering of inner transformations and growth. This is my invitation to you - let's enter the doorway together into heartful becomings - informed by our own seasons and cycles, by Science, and by the unique glimmers that our everyday lives and Forests offers us. “It’s like hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL when your computer is overloaded — right?”
Yes 😂 And also so much more.

I’ve been having many conversations lately about forest therapy / forest bathing, and someone shared this real-world computer analogy that really landed. With the tasks unloaded, we create space for new meaning-full programmes to enter - think: new ways of understanding, new perspectives, new stories, newfound appreciation, new lenses to see the world with, new narratives ... this is what relational forest therapy offers - a journey of self growth with nature that is invited with ease, not instructed - for this is 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 ✨

Going solo 🌱 In a recent forest therapy guide training session, our discussion was steered towards group vs 1:1 or solo sessions. And I detected a subtle comparison where group sessions seem "better" and more "people centric".

Oh there are so many benefits to group sessions, and I have witnessed and received them myself, both as participant and guide over the years. But it is also so so so true that my introverted self screams YES to solo sessions ... Just me and my patch of greens = ultra happy me (: more importantly, people have hidden stories as to why they might be 110% more comfortable on their own than with others. Forcing them to be a groupie is not helpful.

To whoever who needs to hear this: you are permitted to go solo.

独自一人也完全没问题 🌱 前阵子在培训新森林疗愈向导时，我们聊到「团体」跟「个人」的方式。聊着聊着，我发现大家好像潜意识里觉得团体"比较好"。

但老实讲，我这个内向人听到「solo」马上眼睛发光 😂 一个人待在自己那小小一片绿里，就已经很满足、很自在了。

带领森林疗愈那么多年，我也遇见和领悟到不是每个人都希望被放进团体，不是每个人都喜欢 跟“大家在一起”。原因和理由很多。我觉得更重要的是尊重他们的选择。

一个人走，一个人练习一场森林浴也是一种好方式 -- 你可以这么选。

With the Forest and Nature as your mirror, perhaps your becoming starts to take shape gently and quietly. 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 — in all her forms: from wild woods to your home garden, and even the small park down your street. 8 years, countless forest therapy walks and thousands of people and tea served. Thank you to everyone who has walked beside me - in the forests, through screens, in hearts, across seasons and borders.

Each of you have shaped my journey in ways that words cannot describe 💚

As the Forest continues to guide and inspire me into new chapters, I carry deep gratitude, humility and wonder ✨️

8年了，我带过很多场森林疗愈，泡了好多茶，也遇到很多人。
真的很感谢一路上陪我走的人——不管是在森林里、在萤幕前、在心里，还是远远的地方 💚

每一个人都让我成长，给我很多感动。

A Quiet Rebel's Season of Recalibration 🐦‍🔥
The truth is, I was away, but I was also deeply present. This quiet stillness became the most profound "work" I’ve done.

It began as a subtle, unmistakable shift in my compass towards the end of 2023. An inner vibration quietly morphing, drawing my attention away from the known path. As life moved me into new physical spaces, I followed the flow, allowing my role as Guide to evolve more fully into Trainer, Consultant, and Curator. It prompted me to be more selective in work that I am really passionate about.

In other persepctive, just call it the 7 years' itch. It is real 🤣

In Singapore, the seeds I planted are now a thriving forest: over 50 certified forest therapy guides, each a gem. With them stepping up to hold space for slowing down and rest, I know I've 'graduated' in this chapter. It granted me permission to evolve into newer projects and themes that reflect and align more with my own seasons.

This season of recalibration was not passive. It held deep contemplation, yes, but also wild joy, curious discovery, and brave venturing. Who says the path of self-development must always be serious and quiet?

This pause was neither an ending nor an escape; it was simply my essential work to come back to what my heart wants to offer. And of course, this was not a work that I did solo, and thank you so much to those who accompanied me.

And rest assured: you can never truly take the Guide out of The Guide.

Coming to 2 years of patient waiting. The itch is long overdue. The next chapter is beginning. 🍃

我这段时间虽然“消失”了，但其实是在认真搞“大项目”：给自己深度放空。这份安静的沉淀，反而是我做过最扎实的“工作”。
从2023年底就感觉指南针在悄悄转向，所以我的角色也顺理成章地升级成了培训师和顾问。
最开心的是，新加坡现在有50多个超棒的向导啦！看着他们都能独当一面，我就知道我圆满“毕业”了。现在可以安心去玩点更符合我当前状态的新主题。
而且，休息不一定都得静悄悄的！我这次充电里头，也有超多狂野的快乐和好奇的冒险。谁说自我成长不能玩？
总之，不是逃避，就是给自己彻底充了个电。放心，向导的心一直都在。

Facebook reminded me of this memory from 8 years' ago. Back then, I wrote: ‘I took the first step in re-newing myself (and telling the world).’

The truth is, I was scared. Scared of what people would say. Scared of leaving the comfort and the stability of a 9–5.

But I listened to the Forest. She gave me courage when I doubted myself, and reminded me that renewal begins with a single step. She inspired me.

Looking back, I’m grateful I said yes. Grateful for everyone who have been on the journey with me.

No regrets, only growth. And I can’t wait to share what’s next. 🌱✨

8年前的今天 -- Facebook 提醒了我那時寫下的一句話：
「我踏出了更新自己的第一步（也告訴了全世界)」

當時，其實我很害怕。怕別人的眼光，怕離当时工作的安穩。
但我聽見了森林。她在我懷疑時給我勇氣，提醒我更新就從第一步開始。

回頭看，我很慶幸自己說了 YES。
感謝一路上陪伴的大家。

中文版↡↡ Introverted guides 🍀 a to August when I was invited to do a forest therapy consult and to guide a walk for some Taiwan forest therapists-in-training at the southern part of Taiwan. We discussed plenty - from programme itineraries specifically for 林後四林平地森林園區 Lin Hou Si Lin Forest Park and possible forest bathing activities at 墾丁國家森林遊樂區 Kenting National Forest Recreation Area, to some aspects of ANFT's relational approach to forest therapy ... to introverted guides 🙂 Prof Luo and I were chatting casually and I somehow mentioned about my observation (possibly my belief too) that many forest therapy guides/facilitators are naturally quite introverted (myself included). That doesn't mean we don't like people; in fact we love people which is why many of us enter into the profession with the noble intention of serving and helping people isn't it? Plus, many of us can be extroverted when we choose to. He couldn't quite believe me 🤭 as the forest therapists-in-training gathered that morning, he asked "How many of you here are introverts?" Almost all hands shot up 😂

We had a wonderful and information-packed morning led by a local naturalist guide as we toured the grounds of 雙流國家森林遊樂區 Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area. And in the afternoon, I guided everyone on an ANFT forest therapy walk. No frills, no fancy do-ing activities - just us: our senses, bodies and hearts, and the Forest; solo quiet time with the Forest balanced with non-pressured group sharing time. A recharge for the introverted us, and a social expansion for the extroverted us [to be continued ✨️]

🌿 內向嚮導 🍀 到 8 月，我受邀到台灣南部， 提供一些森林療癒活動的顧問諮詢，以及為正在培訓中的森林療癒師帶領一場ANFT森林療癒體驗。

我們聊了好多 —— 從專屬林後四林平地森林園區的課程規劃，到墾丁國家森林遊樂區可以進行的森林浴活動；從 ANFT 的「關係式」森林療癒方法…一路聊到「內向的嚮導」🙂

私下和羅教授閒聊時，我提到一個觀察（也算是我自己的小小信念）：其實很多森林療癒嚮導或帶領者，天性上都偏內向（包括我自己🤭）。但這不代表我們不喜歡人；相反的，正因為我們真心喜歡人，才會帶著「想幫助、想服務他人」的初心踏上這條路，不是嗎？而且，很多時候我們也能在需要時展現外向的一面。羅教授當時半信半疑 😅，過後就現場問學員：「在座有多少人覺得自己是內向的？」 —— 幾乎所有人都舉手了 😂

那天上午，我們跟著在地的自然解說員一起走訪雙流國家森林遊樂區，認識當地的自然環境。下午則換我帶領一場 ANFT 森林療癒體驗。沒有華麗的活動設計，就是單純的我們：身體、感官、心，還有森林。既有靜靜獨處的時光，也有自在、不帶壓力的分享。對我們內向的方面來說，是能量的補充；而對我們外向的方面來說，則是一種社交的延伸與拓展（待續 ✨）
