The Provisional Life and the Puer/Puella Archetype: Breaking Free from the Fantasy of “Not Yet” Carl Jung repeatedly warned against living a “provisional life” – a life lived as if the real thing is yet to come. He argued that this way of being leads to neurosis, a constant state of irritation in the unconscious.
