Cancer treatment is only going to get more expensive as medical advances improve.

The key is to go for your regular screening and prevent cancers from developing in the first place.

Colorectal cancer is the top cancer in Singapore. And it is easily screened for with a stool kit at your GP or a colonoscopy.

Precancerous polyps can then be removed during colonoscopy and prevent further cancer development.

Some patients may be left in the lurch when new rules to control the cost of cancer treatment kick in. Read more at straitstimes.com.

It’s been awhile since our last update but today is a day worth remembering.

Through all the whirlwind happenings over the past 2 years, and the daily excitement that ensures that no two days are ever the same for us, we took a moment to celebrate the coming of age of our youngest nurse today.

A difficult time to be a healthcare professional, all the more so when facing it as a youth, we have watched her grow into the adult much faster than any other youth should have been made to experience.

Team JLES is proud to have her as a team member and together we will continue to serve our patients through the years ahead.

It has been an extremely eventful Rat Year for the team and we have grown in so many ways including our waistlines.

As we look forward to the new Ox Year ahead, we would like to thank all our patients for giving us the opportunity to be part of your journey towards better health.

Wishing everyone a Properous and Healthy Year ahead!

It has been a year since our last team photo and how things have changed since then.

Our society is grappling with the worst crisis in generations, and lives and livelihoods have been affected one way or another.

But in the last year, there has also been much to be thankful for. Our team has grown and continues to do so. We have moved into our new centre, and have been able to continue to provide the care that our patients needed, regardless of the hurdles faced during the past couple of months.

All this would not have been possible without this team of ladies, constantly putting in the extra effort and hours daily, to ensure that we always gave our best to every single patient whom we had the privilege of treating.

The JLES team.

This Labour Day, let us rally around our colleagues on the frontlines, who have been tirelessly battling the virus that has taken an incredible toll on our community and our healthcare system.

Our team will continue to do our part in this fight by putting in extra hours daily to ensure that urgent surgical care remains accessible to patients 24/7.

Stay safe and stay home during this important circuit breaker period. If you are unwell, do seek medical attention early.

03/04/2020

We will always remain open for our patients regardless of the situation in Singapore.

Please be reassured that my team and myself are putting in extra hours and safety measures to ensure that we remain available at our Novena and Ghim Moh clinics, especially for any patient with urgent surgical issues.

Contact us at our centralised appointment number if you need an appointment and we will see you as soon as possible.

Another reminder during these challenging times that it is always better to treat any illness early than to address it when it is unbearable and serious.

See your doctor early if you have any symptoms so that you can be treated faster with a smoother road to recovery.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month worldwide.

It reminds us that cancers, especially common ones like colorectal cancer, still continue to develop in us regardless of the infectious diseases present in our community.

Colorectal cancer, unlike many other cancers, is preventable if pre-cancerous polyps are picked up and removed during a colonoscopy.

The article below is easy to read and provides accurate information and facts on colorectal cancer.

Basic Facts About Colorectal Cancer Why is it so important? Colorectal cancer—cancer of the colon and rectum—is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States for both men and women combined. The general population faces a lifetime risk for developing the disease of about...
