Should older adults eat less than younger adults?

As we age, it is true that older adults require fewer total calories than younger adults due to changes in metabolism and activity levels.

However, older adults also face unique challenges that may affect their nutritional status such as reduced nutrient absorption,
medication side effects, and difficulty chewing or swallowing.

Hence, skipping meals is not advisable for older adults as this may mean they will not meet their nutritional requirements.

Happy World Medical Social Work Day! 🌼

Our Medical Social Services team spent a meaningful afternoon at Bright Hill Evergreen Home, engaging residents through a heartwarming line‑up of activities, including a reminiscence guessing game, cake‑cutting for the March babies, gift distribution, Bingo, and a joyful sing‑along session. It was great to see the happy faces and laughter of the residents!

Medical Social Work plays a vital role in supporting individuals through health challenges, ensuring they are heard, supported emotionally, and linked to resources that strengthen their wellbeing.
We will continue to work towards forging better partnerships with the healthcare community and help those in need.

Thank you to our medical social workers for walking alongside patients, families, and communities with unwavering dedication. You make a difference everyday! 💛✨

What an amazing turnout at the EGH Campus Health Fest at Bedok Town Square!

Our Guest of Honour, SMS Tan Kiat How, graced the event and together with our leaders, unveiled the Smart Hospital Roadmap that is built on three key pillars – Smart Care, Smart Operations, and Smart Infrastructure. The roadmap details how technology and digital innovation will be
thoughtfully integrated to enhance care delivery, strengthen operational resilience and future-proof healthcare through intelligent systems and infrastructure.

The health and wellness booths and digital showcase allowed visitors to experience latest healthcare innovations and they also enjoyed engaging health talks, lively stage performances and a variety of activities that brought families and neighbours together.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came by and made the event so vibrant and memorable. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with the community and share the journey towards better health together.

A reminder that generosity often begins at home and grows when shared.

Grateful to spotlight Dr Tan Tai Kiat, Chief Operating Officer of SCH, and his wife Rui Hua, whose family traditions and values have shaped a meaningful commitment to giving.
Their support for the SCH Health Fund reflects a belief that compassion, when put into action, can bring dignity, comfort, and hope to patients and families during their most challenging moments. As we celebrate stories like theirs, we’re reminded that everyone can make a difference. Whether through volunteering, supporting a cause, or simply extending kindness to someone who needs it – every gesture counts.

Let’s keep building a community where care is shared, and impact is real.
