Sixteen years.

That’s how long my clinic Family Health Chiropractic Clinic SG has been showing up, day after day, to care for spines, nervous systems, and the people attached to them.

I started with a shoestring budget fresh out of school from Sherman College of Chiropractic in 2009 and rented a small office at the former Park Mall (where UBS bank sits now at Dhoby Ghaut MRT).

I could still remember vividly using low portable partition walls to divide the treatment and the reception area.

No doors. No proper rooms.

And plastic stools were scattered in the corridor for overflowing patients, especially on Saturdays.

In 2016, we were forced to relocate as the developer decided to tear the building down.

TripleOne Somerset became my clinic’s new home. A much bigger and spacious office space that I called my own with proper rooms, doors and ample sitting space. I would look at it as an upgrade 😊

What started as a simple vision has become a community:

👍Families we’ve watched grow.

👍Patients who trusted us with their pain, their recovery, and their health journeys.

👍Conversations that went far beyond symptoms and into life.

I’ve had the privilege of caring for parents… then their children… and now, in some cases, their grandchildren. That is a kind of multigenerational trust that humbles me beyond words.

Spine health isn’t just about alignment.
It’s about helping people move better, live fuller, and show up stronger for the things that matter most—family, work, sport, and purpose.

This 16-year milestone isn’t just ours.
It belongs to:
👉Every patient who walked through our doors and trusted us
👉Every referral, message, and quiet word of encouragement
👉Every team member who chose care over convenience

Thank you for believing in what we do and why we do it.

Here’s to 16 years of care. and many more years of keeping Singapore moving well, living well, and standing tall.

❤️ To a healthy start in 2026. Take good care of your spinal health.

I will be back in office on 5 Jan 2026.

Oops, the secret is out! Even Santa needs to see a chiropractor.

🎁 Long flights.
🎁 Heavy sack.
🎁 Very tight schedule
🎁 Questionable posture squeezing down chimneys (and maybe not so nice smelling chutes in Singapore 😂).

That’s explains.

Alright guys, Santa also told me he’s already sent out many reminders to many to see me in 2026 🎅🏼

The real question is…
are you one of them? 😏

Because Santa knows everything, other than whether you have been naughty or nice, whether you have been:
• Working long workdays
• Carrying the team
• Carrying the family
• Carrying stress like it’s part of the job description

And whether you need a spine check 😅

Funny thing : the ones who hold everything together are always the last to check on their own spine.

🎯 Joke aside, 2026 isn’t about grinding harder.

It’s about moving better, recovering smarter, and staying aligned.

If your body has been quietly sending its own reminders…

DM me “ALIGN” and let’s start 2026 properly.

Hope you have had a great festive holiday yesterday.

Oh, Santa also told me I have worked hard in 2025 and I deserve a break. So I’m going to enjoy my winter holiday next week! Yeah.

But I can still take appointments to see you when I’m back 😁

Walking down Orchard Road in Singapore last weekend with the family, soaking in the Christmas atmosphere 🎄

Crowd, traffic, festive chaos everywhere.

But everyone actually slowed down, for once.

No one was in a hurry!

And the atmosphere and cheers… It’s really feeling like Christmas! Short of the ⛄️ and ❄️

As we count down to the end of 2025, and I look back

It struck me…

During the busiest periods this year, things really flow better when there’s alignment.

In our spine.
In our leadership.
In how we show up for others.

Here’s to ending the year upright, grounded, and moving forward towards 2026 with intention.

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas! 🎅 🤶 🎄

What helps you stay aligned during the year-end rush?

✨ The Silent Spine Killer During Your Holidays: Your Luggage ✨

Everyone loves holidays…
Until that one moment when your spine goes: Ooh! Aiya! Shoot! Ouch! (choose one or all of the above!)

Be it:
🛄 pulling a 25kg suitcase off the conveyor belt
🛄 lifting it into the overhead bin or car, or
🛄 dragging it across cobblestone streets in Europe or up the stairs in Korea.

Or anywhere actually.

Your holiday luggage remains as one of the biggest causes of sudden back pain.

Do you know why your spine hates holiday season? Here’s 4 reasons:

🧳 1. Your luggage is heavier than you think

Kiasu mentality or vanity? You packed “just in case” clothes for 10 days… for a 4-day trip.

🧳 2. Awkward angles = maximum disc pressure

Twisting your back while lifting = the perfect recipe for a disc injury, and potentially a holiday you’ll remember for the wrong reasons. If you want to avoid a slipped disc, read till the end.

🧳 3. Travel fatigue makes posture sloppy

Long flights, poor sleep, tight deadlines → your core switches off, and your poor habits take over. What gets sacrificed? Your spine.

🧳 4. Lifting overhead is a spine torture

Overhead bins can be a brutal gym workout. Worse when you have 20 pairs of eyes behind you stabbing at you. You are stressed, so is your spine!

✔️ Here’s How You Can Save Your Spine This Holiday
• Bend your hips and knees, not your back
• Keep your luggage close to your body
• Use both hands and keep your back as straight as you can
• Ask for help when loading overheads. Your spine will thank you
• If it feels heavy… it is heavy. Another pair of hands can help lighten your load and save your spine
• And of course, get a chiropractic tune-up before your trip 😉

Travel to rest, not to get injured.

Take care of your spine, and it’ll take care of you everywhere you go.

If all else fail, plan for a chiropractic visit when you are back. You need that.

Many come in for a spine check anyway.

Help me repost to keep another spine happy 😁

School holiday is here, but remember: Your spine doesn’t take annual leave.

So treat it better than your suitcase.

Most people return from holiday with souvenirs and happy memories.

Some return with… a stiff neck, aching lower back, and a new respect for pillows. 😅

The reality: 👇
Travel doesn’t injure your spine.
How you travel does.

After years of seeing post-holiday patients, these are the real culprits:

✈️ The airplane “C-shape slump”
The seat design makes your lumbar curve spine disappear. Everyone start to curl up like a cooked prawn, some like a snake. Yes, you laugh.

🎒 The one-shoulder bag flex
Looks cool. Stylo milo (Singapore slang) Your neck and trapezius muscles files a complaint… 3 hours later. Start of a miserable holiday.

📱 The travel tech-neck
Taking photos with your head down = nice pictures but neck pain. Continue to binge on your drama and Netflix, maybe even more!

🛏️ The hotel pillow roulette
One pillow is too high, the next one is paper thin. Your neck loses either way.

But here’s what you can do to protect your spine while you explore the world:

✔ Bring a small lumbar roll for the plane. If you don’t have one, use the pillow provided on the plane. Place it in the small of your back.
✔ Get up and stretch every 60–90 minutes. Reset the pressure in your spine and disc.
✔ Backpack on both shoulders (yes, both!). Keep the bag light. Spread out the weight evenly!
✔ Chin up for photos — your neck will thank you
✔ Do a digital detox - enjoy the scenery. Give your smart device a well deserved annual leave. Your neck needs the break. Look up, smell the fresh air and the flowers, look at the mountains, and the beautiful clouds.
✔ Swim or walk in the pool whenever possible - water decompresses the spine

Travel is meant to refresh you.
Not realign you.
(That’s my job 😉)

Enjoy your holiday.
Protect your spine.
And come home with memories, not muscle spasms.

sgmarathon Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon… It’s a wrap

🔥 “Even F1 cars get a full check-up after ONE race.
Your body just completed 42 km… what’s your excuse?”

After the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, most runners do the same thing:

Cheese!

Take photos, take a medal, take a Grab home.

Next few days: wait for the soreness to go away. Lots of muscle rubs for some maybe…

By now, your soreness should have subsided somewhat.

But top runners? They do something proactive that sets themselves apart from the rest.

Dr Ashley Liew, Singapore’s ex-National marathoner once said,
👉 “The last hands on me before the race, and the first hands after are the hands of my chiropractor (hey that’s me!) 😁

That’s how seriously he treats recovery alignment.

That’s also probably why he remains injury free since he started chiropractic care in 2010!

Because here’s the truth:
Your spine is your chassis.
Your nervous system is your engine.
Your stride is your aerodynamics.
And fatigue throws all of that out of balance.

In the last 10 km, your body secretly:
• Rotates the pelvis more
• Loads the lower back differently
• Breaks stride symmetry
• Tightens the mid-back like a worn suspension

Top athletes don’t wait for pain.
They recalibrate immediately — the same way an F1 car goes straight to the garage after the chequered flag.

As a chiropractor (aka your friendly spine mechanic) at Family Health Chiropractic Clinic SG, I help runners tune up the structure that carried them from KM 1 onwards, for some to KM 10, some KM 21 and some to KM 42.

🏁 Before you sign up for your next race out of post-marathon euphoria…
Do what F1 teams do: reset, realign, recalibrate.

Your next PB preparation begins in the “garage”.

Grateful to be featured in The Straits Times by Sarah R Stanley as one of the experts sharing tips on how to get a restful flight in economy class.

My biggest takeaway for travellers:
Your seat may be cramped, but your posture doesn’t have to be.

Some facts:
1️⃣Our spine is not designed to sleep in an upright position
2️⃣ Pressure can build in the neck and lower back when forced to do so.
3️⃣ The amount of pressure on one's spinal discs is much greater in the seated position when compared to standing
4️⃣ Studies show that:
🩺Standing subjects your spine to pressure close to 100 per cent of your body weight
🩺Sitting upright is about 150 per cent.
🩺Bending forward while sitting to pick something up can increase it to 275 per cent

What you can do to help:
✅A supportive travel pillow that allows the neck to remain in a stable position can help, especially when sleeping

✅A pillow or rolled-up piece of clothing in the small of your lower back can help to maintain lumbar support

✅Keeping your neck and spine in line can help to minimise the pressure on your spinal discs

✅Move often. Get up and walk around or stretch every few hours

✅If you experience back or neck pain often after travelling, it might be a sign to visit a chiropractor.

Holiday season is here — keep your spine happy so you arrive ready to enjoy it.

Help me repost to keep another spine happy 😁
